Colonial Warfare in Portuguese Africa, 1846-1918  

Welcome to the TKC's web pages. This site is dedicated to the Portuguese colonial wars and geographical explorations in the African continent, during the second half of the 19th century until the second decade of the 20th. Although the Portuguese army and navy fought more than 300 campaigns and actions in Angola, Mozambique and Portuguese Guinea, during this period, it is still a subject hitherto unknown to many people. I hope to unveil the tip of the iceberg of this obscure colonial experience, almost as dark and mysterious as the land itself.
