LEAHY

USS LEAHY WEBSITE

WANTS, NEEDS AND DESIRES

URGENT   NOTICE:

This website utilizes a free server service in the UK - Therefore ALL the main pages have an intrusive advert frame inserted on the upper right side. The only solutions that I have come up with so far to work around or eliminate this Javascript frame-advert are:

1) Change the monitor screen resolution from 640x480 to

1024x768 or higher (this does not eliminate this intrusive frame).

       2) Install a trial copy of "AdSubtract Pro" software from:

http://www.adsubtract.com/

If you decide to install this software, you can

view the proper configurations HERE .

This software WORKS ( = total elimination of this intrusive frame)

The links for the above software homepages (SizeOmatic and AdSubtract Pro) are located towards the bottom of the page at:

Oleg Rykov - RykovO@mail.ru

Jolly good start of a long time expected site of the USS Leahy! Sending my hello from "over the hill" officers and sailors of a decommisioned Soviet Navy unit "CCB -493" which had an encounter with your cruiser at Point Mugu back in 1985 crusing 3 days in an`"honorary escort" of the "admiral" and her company in your crusier's effort to return a Navy drone picked up by our ship. Anyone has any recollection of that or pictures of the "Charlie Charlie Bravo" taken by your crew? If any, I would appreciate receiving one.
Have a smooth sailing,
Sincerely, Oleg Rykov, LCDR Russian Navy Rtr.

Would like any info or photos regarding the Leahy grounding at Tokyo under Capt. Pearlman. I have received one response so far - any other versions out there?

Any shipmate that would be willing to donate a "LEAHY" shoulder patch or a Leahy Zippo, would make the webkeeper of this site eternally grateful.

--- Johnnie Noles has kindly donated the LEAHY shoulder patch and ZIPPO. ---

Would any former shipmate be willing to part temporarily with any UNITAS or Med Cruise Book, so that I might scan and add them to this site? They will be returned in a timely manner, in the conditioned received. Forward your reply to kengems@k2net.cc

Many thanks to Stan Kielbowicz - Johnnie Noles - Robin Henson for their submissions.
