Who Is Jules?

The Graduate

Here I am again. After an absence of far too long, I've finally got back into the updating game! So, this is me, in all my graduate regalia. This pic was taken on 30th November 2002, my graduation day, outside Canterbury Cathedral. It's sooo scary being in the big wide world! But anyway, more of that later. This is what's been happening to me over the past few months...

1: I'm now a London Gal! I moved up here in November 2002, to pursue my dream of working in tv and becoming a millionnaire! Ok, so it hasn't happened yet, but I'm working on it!

2: As part of my tv dream, I've been working on as many student (and otherwise) films as I can, to try to get some experience, and meet people in the business. I've taken part in three films so far. I was Script Supervisor (continuity person) on a student Motorola advert called "The Party Never Ends". We spent the night in Abney Park Cemetery to film this one. I've just had a copy of the video sent to me. Much shorter than I thought it'd be, for all the hours we spent in the dark and freezing cold!

Next, I was an Extra in a film called Dog, where I got to meet the lovely Paul Danan, who used to be in Hollyoaks. Dog is a feature film, which is released sometime in Autumn 2003. Watch out for me in my blue top in the pub scene, laughing at the bloke with the porn!

My most recent film was a student short called "Three Hours", filmed over three days in Islington. Again, I was Script Supervisor, and met lots of lovely people.

3: Six and a half years I've been working at Boots! I feel so old. In that time I've covered four different stores. And (as far as I know), I didn't alienate any of them too much! Phew! I've been at my latest store, Eltham, for four months now, and on Sunday, I got to be Supervisor for the day! I had to open up, turn off the alarm, start up all the tills, tell the staff what to do, and close up again at the end of the day! Ooh what fun it was! I can't believe they gave me that much responsibility actually. My supervisor seems to trust me for some reason! Two days later, I had to hand in my notice, for the reason outlined below...

4: On Monday, I went for an interview for a job I applied for back in November. I didn't get the job then but it seems the person that did, subsequently left, and my cv was still on file, so I got an interview. So I hopped on a train to Soho, found Wild Tracks, and in I went. The interview went like most others I've been for for this type of job (runner). They tell you a bit about the company, ask you about yourself, and tell you they'll get back to you. Except this time, she didn't say she'd get back to me, she said "Right, that's great, I'd like to offer you the job"! "Waaaaaaaah" thought I, but was very composed. I asked if she had interviewed many others, and apparently she had, but I was the most suited to the job! I have found a use for my Radio degree, I am so happy! So I have a full-time job! Yippee! Wild Tracks is an audio house, so no tv, but it's definitely a step in the right direction! And they work with The Cartoon Network, so I'll get to meet the voices behind the cartoons, and feed them toast! So now, not only am I a graduate, but I'm an employed graduate! Life is good...
