AUTOBOT Vs. DECEPTICON

The age-old conflict between two warring robot factions roared into our lives around 1984 with the release of the first generation of Transformers (G1). They came from the planet Cybertron, the peace-loving Autobots; in search of Energon to fuel their struggle against the evil Decepticons. Four million years after a Decepticon ambush, they crashed to Earth, only to lie dormant , until 1984 when they re-awoke.

1985 heralded another line of Transformers, mostly modelled on the earlier toys and re-coloured. These were followed in 1986 by yet more, different additions to the conflict. Introducing the gestalt, combining figures. This is were the saga, sadly , in my opinion, begins to look plastic and unrealistic. The die-hard fans will agree, there was something about the G1 '84 - '86 era that captivated more than the later efforts.
