Howdy, Thanks for stopping by... Between October 1998 and February 2001, I lived in 6 countries while employed as a freelance telecom contractor... for more on that, check out my resume.
My first 9 months were spent in Reading, Berkshire -- Roughly 30 minutes west of London by train. While in Reading I worked a 4 day on/4 day off schedule, which was pretty convenient as far as traveling goes. The next approximate 7 months were spent in Brussels, Belgium -- Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne, and Brugges were all within a 3 hour drive. Starting in March 2000, I spent 6 weeks in Glasgow. It was great, Scotland is so under-rated. Next I moved on to Sofia, Bulgaria! Talk about culture shock... Actually, I had an EXCELLENT time living there for 2 months. Then I spent 3 months, late summer, in Naples, Italy -- It sounds better than it actually was. Mid November 2000, I moved to Curitiba, Parana - Brazil... Very cool! My best overseas living experience yet. I enjoyed it so much I went back for another month; only this was a vacation and I stayed in Santa Catarina.
in March 2001, I returned to America & was shuttling back & forth between Chicago & Seattle while looking for work... That lasted for 6 months. In late July 2001 I took a job in Southern California (Redondo Beach). So, for the next few years I will be living in the USA -- I will still get some travel, but it will be weeks at a time instead of months at a time.
When not working, I've been traveling as much as I can and have been to quite a few different countries. Then again, in Europe, Get on a plane or train for an hour or two, and you're in a different country where everybody talks funny... Luckily though, most Europeans can speak some English (if not fluently). Below are links to pictures I have taken of cities I have visited:

My
older bro Scott has been playing guitar and making music for a living
for roughly 25 years now. He is pretty much known to be the man in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel
Hill, NC when it comes to jazz guitar, and his wife Carolyn's bluesy R&B
project "Ghezzi" is on the verge of hitting it big. Read all about it

This page started out as an alternative to emailing a few of the same pictures to friends and family members in North America; it has since taken on a life of its own... Please note: I am NOT a professional photographer, nor am I a professional webpage designer (I am an amateur at best); I realize that some of the pictures suck, and that there are better travel sites out there on the web. I do hope though, that you enjoy surfing this page.
Note: This webpage is under constant construction... More photo's to be added soon...
All pictures taken with a Sony DSC-55 Cybershot digital camera, except for the Prague and Edinburgh pictures (disposable camera) which were scanned by my friend Richard Baker, and the first Reading piss-up pictures which I received from my friend Sally.
Eventually this website will be moving to www.jonsawyer.net - However, until then... If you are tired of seeing the tripod pop-up window (or any pop-up windows period), then I suggest you download POW (freeware) from www.analogx.com.
