With the trend away from the genuine 2-stroke racer towards 4-stroke road bike based production/super-sport racing, you the racer now have a choice about what to do with the electrics on your race bike. Historically there were two solutions:
1. Buy the kit loom, usually at a "kit part" price with no guarantee, back up or support!!.
2. Do it yourself or get your mate who "knew something about car electrics " to do it for you.
Whilst both of the above worked in the past there is now an alternative, quality and guaranteed solution for modern bike electrics. A purpose built wiring harness made specifically for YOUR bike that connects straight into the switchgear/ instruments and other electrical equipment YOU want to use.
WHY?
1. Many of today's performance bikes use complex electronics in order to provide the optimum fuel/air and ignition timing required for maximum performance. To do this they monitor various parameters on your bike using a combination of temperature, pressure and position sensors.
2. In many instances these sensors are used to electronically restrict the performance of your machine, often by retarding or cutting the ignition at preset values well below those the bike has the potential to run at.
These sensors are typically low voltage, precision devices calibrated for your specific model of bike, their outputs to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) are easily corrupted by poor earths, solder joints and other examples of bad wiring.

Many of the accessories commonly fitted to race bikes i.e. programmable ignitions, tacho's, gear shift lights and quickshift systems interface directly with the ignition system. Poor workmanship when fitting is the cause of the majority of problems we encounter and if there is a more infuriating fault than an intermittent misfire we'd like to know!!
Tachometer Quickshift System Programmable Ignition (Yam R6)
We have 11 years experience manufacturing wiring harnesses specifically for race bikes, in this time we have built up a huge database of technical information on most bikes from the ZXR400 through to the 2001 GSXR1000 AND we've never had a failure, indeed one of our original harnesses is still doing the rounds on a 1989 Yamaha FZ750. Our work encompasses road-race, sidecars, grass-track, enduro, beach racers and the occasional kit car, in fact anything that anyone has fitted a bike engine into!
