Set the scene for winter skies
Longer nights and shorter days
Catching evanescent rays
The cycle of rebirth and death
Whispered in a zephyr’s breath
The gust that blows off idle leaves
Whistles through the weary trees. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 2003I feel the droplets of the rain
They wash away the years of pain
Each drop soaks into my skin
Sinks in and cures me deep within
Echoed rings in puddles form
They dissipate and are reborn
Reflecting over rippled planes
Return my sense of self again
Walking across a moonlit shore
I contemplate what lies in store
I watch the moon’s orb ride the waves
Shattered, broken but still unscathed
The sun blooms in a coral sky
The tide withdraws and breathes a sigh
Rainbows form in sea foam spray
A promise of hope for a new day
The clouds that washed my soul are gone
Light returns and life goes on
But if my days grow cold again
I’ll feel the droplets of the rain. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 29 November 2005The tide sweeps the sandy shore
On and on, forever more
The sea draws in and out again
On and on, it never ends
The sun will die and be reborn
On and on, another dawn
As the waves caress the shore
On and on, forever more. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 22 November 2005Icing sugar on the path
The tarmac pavement encrusted with jewels
The world is turning light to dark
In preparation for the day of Yule
Nature sleeps beneath the land
The animals hibernate in their nests
The sun god died, but we don’t mourn
He will awaken from his rest. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com March 2004Let me drown in my sea of tears
Dwell upon my darkest fears
Let me taste the bitter salt
But learn to find it’s not my fault
Bind me in my own remorse
Meditate upon its force
Let me shrivel in its rays
But survive for brighter days. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 30 September 2005The solitary oak tree reaches upwards
Stretching fingers to the sky
Standing alone on the green hillside
Watching life passing him by
His trunk is hard, seemingly lifeless
His branches stripped of all their leaves
Standing dormant like a sentry
Life moves slowly as he grieves
The spring time comes; the world is blooming
The oak tree wakes up from his sleep
His branches are adorned with foliage
The contented oak tree cannot weep. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 02 April 2005The silent morning waits for sunrise
The darkness creeps away from sight
An orb of warmth climbs the horizon
And leaves behind the cold of night. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com Crystalline snowflake
Such an intricate design
Unique like a fingerprint
Of the divine
Floating like a feather
Blanketing the ground
Effortlessly drifting
Without sound. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com 27 November 2008, for Lizzie, my hope.A speck of light pierces the cloud
Amidst the charcoal banks.
A golden thread from heaven,
Cutting the murky twilight.
A signal of hope.
The storm is over. Rate this Poem @ GotPoetry.com |
