Hypnosis to Stop Smoking and More…
by Teresa J. Eisel, C.Ht

I knew two and a half years ago when I quit a 15 year habit using hypnosis that it would change my life and it did. Hypnosis made it easy and I had no withdrawal symptoms. I remember that I have never felt so good in my life. It felt so comfortable to me. I am now a relaxed, confident nonsmoker. I knew there was something to it. More than the fearful perception that some of my friends had. After all, I was a slave to cigarettes for 15 years and I quit. How could this be a bad thing?

So when I decided to go back to school I thought why not try it?
If Hypnosis could allow me to kick a bad habit why couldn't it help me retain and remember too? I also used it to stay calm before a test.
Well the results of this along with a lot of prayer spoke for its self. A 4.0 grade point average and a very confident, calm student. I was amazed at what I could do. No one ever told me I was smart or that I could be anything I wanted to be. I soon found out that with hypnosis I can do almost anything and no one can now tell me different.

To me hypnosis means making a working connection between your subconscious and consciousness and being in fuller control of your thought patterns. If you think you can - you will. I think people set too many boundaries. They limit themselves. I see this every single day at work. A factory can be a very depressing place to work. Most of the people there feel doomed. They think they cant do anything else. They feel trapped and hopeless. A lot of them die of cancer at a pretty young age. Hypnosis has helped me to realize my potential and to achieve my goals. It also helped to feel more compassion for people who for some reason feel the need for misery and illness in their lives.

I have experimented even more since the first class. My nephew who is 13 years old is playing football this year. I noticed last week at his scrimmage that he seemed stand offish and shy. He really was not playing like I knew and he knew he could. So the night before his first game I suggested to his Mother that I try some relaxation techniques. I would only do it if they both approved of course. She said yes and so did he, so I hypnotized him and gave him some very positive suggestions. 'You are a great football player; you will be clam and focused' etc. Well it worked of course. I noticed he seemed to be more a part of the team. He was a lot more involved and confident. I was very proud of him. After the game when he came in the house he was smiling from ear to ear. I asked him if hypnosis made a difference and he said it definitely did. But the look on his face was worth a million bucks. I know now this is what I want to do. What a reward, to influence a young mind in such a positive way. For him to be so confident in his abilities and be so sure of himself totally made my day.
We agreed to try it again next week and to be a little more specific.

I would have to say just from my experiences so far that hypnosis is the best thing that has happened to me. My perception is that Hypnosis can allow people to free themselves from the past and have what they will for the future. It is the total understanding of the way you think. It is being in control of your mind and being aware of the negative influences that other people can have on your thinking patterns. It is the understanding that harboring harmful emotions such as jealousy guilt, anger and anxiety etc. effect your physical being as well as your mind and spirit. In hypnosis if you can believe it than you can do it. Your subconscious mind will make it so.

I am a very big user of prayer also. I knew the two were linked some how. It really confuses me as to how certain religions are accepting of one and not the other. Now I donut want to get negative all of a sudden, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the fact that some people fear this wonderful thing just floors me. It also makes me wonder why they can't see the connection. Denial, its not just a river in Egypt. I am the type of person that likes to see the big picture. People can go through life, stay inside someone else's so called ‘norm’ and never look beyond the boundaries. Life is not black and white to me. It is any color I want it to be. It is all colors if I will it to be.
I understand that this might be confusing for some people. God gave us a brain and I truly believe he wants us to use them. The scriptures quoted in the books I read prove that theory. I understand however different people translate the scriptures differently, however no one can deny that we are spirit being.

In closing I would like to touch a little on faith. With out faith I would not be here writing this paper or taking this wonderful class. I would still be angry, miserable, confused and looking for something. Something that I always thought I could find in a relationship or a bottle. It wasn't until I became spiritually aware and stepped out of the darkness that I truly had faith in myself. I always believed that no one feels like I do. Boy did I miss that boat, there is a whole army of people who feel the same or worse. I will enjoy working with people who I know I can help if they want it. People with addictions, habits, Low self-esteem, no faith, or people who just want to be pain free holistically. This is my purpose - my spirit tells me so. I am a successful wealthy, happy Hypnotherapist and Reiki Master.
