A former dower house of the Clan Mackenzie, now a comfortable Scottish Tourist Board 3 star country house hotel, surrounded by natural gardens and ancient oak trees, only a few miles from Castle Leod, the seat of the Earl of Cromarty. Craigdarroch is unique in every way from the tranquility of its surroundings and the clean pure air through to the delicious peaty water which comes from the spring behind the house.

Inside the decor is traditionally in keeping with the historic building. Twelve guest rooms are located throughout the lodge on two floors. Our bedrooms are tastefully and carefully decorated. The superior rooms are more spacious, ideally suited to a longer stay and finished to a deluxe standard with all the little extras you would expect. All rooms have private baths and hospitality trays and colour television. 

Craigdarroch's reception rooms include the Rogie Bar which takes its name from the nearby Falls of Rogie on the famous river Blackwater just 5 minutes from the hotel. Its the perfect place to relax after an exhilarating day spent fishing, golfing or walking or just enjoying the sights on your Scottish vacation. Toast your toes in front of the roaring log fire with a pint of Orkney Dark Island ale (Camra year 2000 Gold medal winner) or maybe sample one of our many malt whiskies. 

Guests can also enjoy the peace and tranquility of the cosy lounge where you can sink into comfy sofas by the fireside and enjoy  a good book  from our library.  

Craigdarroch also boasts a Finnish Lagerholm sauna for you to unwind in - with friends or family - it is a very rejuvenating experience. You can also top up your tan on our deluxe Ultratan sun bed.

The beautiful natural gardens that surround Craigdarroch offer a haven for wildlife. We have red squirrels and many varieties of wild birds ranging from lesser spotted woodpeckers, red starts, buzzards and red kites to eagles which can often been seen overhead. Deer frequent the garden just take a look outside your bedroom window in the early morning. The most colourful time to enjoy your holiday in Scotland is late May early June when the rhododendrons are in full bloom and Craigdarroch is surrounded by a mass of purple flowers.
