Being taught by other players is something that will happen to you at some point. The teach command has a somewhat complicated syntax (compared to other commands) and you should therefore be as helpful to your teacher as possible.
There are many pieces of information that are needed by the teacher before he or she can teach you:
Teachers can NOT teach an amount of xp or to a skill level, the teach command is NOT as versatile as the advance command.
So, with this information, the teacher has to type in teach <X> levels of <skill> to <you>. And he keeps on trying this 'hit-or-miss' method until the right amount is reached.
YOU MUST BE PATIENT!
Eventually the teacher will find the amount of skills that matches the xp you want to spend. The accepted practice is to wait for the teacher to say it, meaning "That's it, you should now learn."
Basically, if you don't bear this in mind, the teaching player will get annoyed and not bother teaching you.
Don't say just say 'please teach me some <skill> because there are so many common sense reasons why this is inadequate information that I can't be bothered to explain it _every_ time.
