Belly dance is not a dance exclusively used by women to seduce men. Of course women have used this beautiful and sensuous dance for this purpose, but women have used many things to seduce men,weak and lowly beings that they are, but what most people in the West don't realise is that men do this type of dance too, and so do children. In the Middle-East the people will have a party and Dance-which means belly dancing for them.
Also the traditional costume is not the 'bedlah'(bra and belt), as our lady to the left is wearing, but a long dress which may be a folky style or a more glitzy, elegant version with sequins and beads. In Egypt, where belly dance is big business, it is illegal to show the navel so dancers find many ingenious ways to get around this and still look good.
