Haworthia                                    H minima v minima

00987 Mossel Bay North of town

This could be the most easterly distribution known for the species. Somewhat similar forms occur some 30km towards the west near the Gouritz River, but the plants around the Gouritz River have a darker green color. The Mossel Bay form have a yellowish green color, somewhat reminiscent of H Kingiana. H kingiana is found only some 15 km towards the east of this locality. Haworthia minima is obviously smaller and has thinner leaves then H kingiana. The westerly forms of H minima have a stricking resemblance towards H attenuata or fasciata from the Eastern Cape, although the latter are removed by at least more then 200 km from this locality. According to Ingo Breuer there are distinct floral characteristics seperating H minima from the other two species.
