Haworthia H devriesii v devriesii
00643 Prince Albert North of town
n.n. A new species and related to Haworthia globosiflora. The globose greyish flowers are reminiscent of H pehlemanniae as well as H globosiflora. The leaves are succulent and their shape is somewhat similar to that of H nortieri and H globosiflora. The latter two species are seperated from H devriesii by 200 km and more. H pehlemanniae looks more like H arachnoidea and is found some 110 km to the west of H devriesii in the vicinity of Laingsburg. H devriesii is a unique find and only known from two localities. At both of these the plants are comparatively rare. This species is difficult to find in habitat. The leaf markings and color of the leaves mimic their surroundings. At the type locality the plants grow in very sandy soil, under bushes, but also in the open. When in the open, the plants are occasionally almost completely buried in the sand and only visible when in flower.
