With the leaves incurved, the plants appear to be very similar to H arachnoidea. Their true characteristics are only revealed on closer inspection. Unlike H arachnoidea, the inside of the leaves have a greyish color and the leaftips are translucent. A number of very interesting plants have been found in the area between De Rust and Willowmore that have some relation to H cyanea. Different varieties of cyanea, or new species will probably emerge from these finds.
