The witches plan to meet after the battle, which we find is a rebellion in Scotland. |
| Scene 2 - | The king and his thanes are at a camp and hear word of the battle from the bleeding sergeant that Macbeth killed the slave Macdonwald, and defeated Rebel Thane of Cawdor. | |

The
witches hail Macbeth as Thane of Glamis, his current title, as well as
Cawdor, and King. The witches make predictions to Banquo. They say his
children will become Kings. |
| Scene 4 - | ![]() |
Duncan declares his son Malcolm his successor, making Malcolm a problem in Macbeth's getting the throne. |
| Scene 4 - | Duncan
decides to go to Macbeth's castle, and Macbeth talks of how he is having
dark thoughts about trying to become king. |

| Scene 5 - | Lady Macbeth decides to help Macbeth gain the crown. Lady Macbeth decides that Duncan will be killed while staying at the mansion. | |

Macbeth
contemplates whether or not to commit the crime, Lady Macbeth persuades
Macbeth to do it by mocking his bravery and courage. |
