We've managed to persuade GRIEF SOCIETY bassist Angus Nurse to let us in on what's happening with GRIEF SOCIETY. Bookmark this page and follow Nursie's Diary, below...
SATURDAY 6 July 2002 Tired, so tired........ The Mercy Street gig was a resounding success. Despite not really having played for two years, the Mercy Street boys played an absolute blinder and a jolly good time was had by all. Of course we all got lost on the way to the gig. It's a sign of the times that we all have mobile phones these days and had to talk each other down to where the gig was. The gig itself was good. Mercy Street is upbeat rock music with a fiddle player thrown in for good measure. It's tremendous fun, and I think I'll do it again! FRIDAY 5 July 2002 Tonight that fantastic Celtic Rock band MERCY STREET (featuring yours truly on bass) will play their first proper public gig for nearly two years. I'm tremendously excited about it. The band had a trial run-out at the end of May at the wedding of guitarist James 'Large' Abbott. It was a deeply moving affair although I must confess I can only remember certain parts of it. You see, James and I had been drinking for a significant part of the day. During the band's set, more drinks kept arriving at our side of the stage and, frankly, the whole thing's a bit of a blur. (Yes I know it's not big and it's not clever!) So tonight's gig, somewhere in Essex, will be a bit of a tester for us. Can we still play? Is it still fun? I'm looking forward to it enormously! Tomorrow it's back to GRIEF SOCIETY action! The band is rehearsing some new material for a recording session due to take place in a couple of weeks. We've bneen asked to submit some material for a film project and a couple of new songs look as if they might be suitable. I'll have had about three hours sleep before the rehearsal session but I'm sure it'll be OK. (I hope Steve isn't reading this!)
