Hope all the girls have been watching Channel 2's 'Tipping The Velvet' on Wednesday's at 9pm. Last in the 3 part drama is
on this week (23rd October).

BBC2's much-hyped lesbian costume drama Tipping The Velvet attracted a "huge" audience of 5m on Wednesday night. A BBC spokeswoman
said: "It did brilliantly. The audience peaked at 5m which is huge for BBC2. It's a quality drama and we hope viewers stay
with it." Some viewers rang to complain the drama wasn't raunchy enough. The BBC spokeswoman said: "We have had very few complaints.
Half have said it was too explicit and others said they had been led to believe it was more explicit." Writer Andrew Davies
has described the three-parter as "filthy". More complaints are expected next week when scenes featuring a sex toy will be
screened.

I've just finished the book which is excellent - comes highly recommended.

I will keep you all updated on new L.G.B.T films/TV programmes available in the future.

Films I reccomend: "Better Than Chocolate" "But I'm A Cheerleader" "Bound" "Gia" "If These Walls Could Talk 2" "Boys Dont
Cry".......for the girls.

As for the guys, well, let me know if you've seen a good film you'd like me to add to the website!

Hi and welcome to the University of Abertay Dundee's very own website for the Gay Lesbian and Bisexual community.

I think a lot of people have a lot of preconceptions of what the LGBT is all about. They tend to range from a testosterone-laden
dating game to some sort of militant mob of revolutionaries.

The truth, as it is so often, is nowhere near as controversial or imaginative. The ethos of the LGBT, or certainly the way
that I view the LGBT, is that of a support group. We don't have political agendas - we are strictly non-political -we don't
drag our members out on marches, we don't plot the paint bombing of public figures.

We're just a way for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people (and anybody else) to meet, chat, have a drink, see a
film, go out clubbing. It's all about meeting people. And let's face it, the world can seem very lonely when you think you
might be gay and don't know what to do, where to go, who to talk to. If the LGBT can help in any of those ways, then that's
our mission accomplished, and that's all we want to do.

Even if you don't think it would be for you, there's no harm in getting put on our (strictly confidential) mailing list to
keep you up-to-date with events we have planned.

There are 1 in every 60 students at university who are Gay, Bi-sexual or Lesbian. The University of Abertay Dundee has had
no LGB society since it was closed down in the 1990's so being a student and gay was hard. Dundee University has had their
L.G.B. Society for a number of years now and G.L.A.D. work closely with their society - we have joint meetings and nights
out.

Having decided to set up a society in May 2002, we have been very successful in getting people involved. We offer a Befriending
Project which you can read about on the Befriending Page, we have lots of fun nights out and have many plans we wish to put
into action for the beginning of next semester.

So please take the time to look around and even sign the guest book.

Thanks, Alison Miller (Chairperson)

Are Dundee College students able to join the society? Jane I can sympathize with you over this issue, when I was 16 I was pulled out of a class because one of the lecturers found out I was a lesbian. It has made me afraid of people's reactions to me and my sexual orientation.

I am so glad Abertay have this society, i am a student at Dundee College at the minute we have no groups like this. I am experiencing homophobic bullying by people in my class, they refuse to work with me or talk to me. I feel so lonely. My tutor does nothing to stop the homophbic behaviour either she just laughs.
