This the Visteon manufacturing factory on the eastern section of Fabian Way. Visteon is the name for Ford car components section. Perhaps at some time in he future Ford may launch Visteon as a separate private company. Ford is an multinational corporation and success in Swansea depends on European scale trade. The company would like the U.K. to join the Euro to increase our competivity.
| There is a proposal for an incinerator at Crymlyn Burrows / off Fabian way - a license was granted in May 2002 but thee is much public opposition - including the website (banner) opposite. | ![]() |

Approaching Swansea (opposite the modern docks entrance) this Park and Ride scheme is being developed in Spring 2003. The idea is that shoppers can park here and then take a 'hopper' minibus to the city centre shops. The plan is to maintain trade in the CBD but to help to reduce congestion by offering convenient public transport.
| Approaching The City Centre old docks area there are still signs of the important maritime past with a sailors social club and union office for example. Here the road crosses the Tawe and this bridge is a heavily congested area. The east west access meets the north south route which goes along the lower Tawe Valley. | ![]() |

this old terraced housing area is called St. Thomas after its church. This
is postcode SA1 and the Prince of Wales docks area just east of the Tawe
is being redeveloped as SA1 Swansea Waterfront (formerly Port Tawe
development) in Spring 2003.
More on this regeneration in a later section.
