All of Year 8 visited Garwnant Forestry Park and Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves

We went map reading in small groups at Garwnant near Merthyr. This was on April 10th 2003. It started off as a very sunny morning.
Sam Parton wrote "My group went off to a flying start due in part to my army cadet experience. Map reading in geography lessons also helped me to pass my map reading tests with 6 figure and 8 figure grid references. Map reading is second nature to me."

"We used teamwork to pull us through. Some people doubted my map reading skills and turned against me but we turned  a corner and 'hey presto' there was the marker. We finished second due to us stopping to discuss things. The forest was dense with small muddy tracks weaving in and out of the trees. The terrain was bumpy  - a bit like Sennybridge Training Area"

A view from the cave entrance looking down through the dinosaur park. Many thank to Miss Pinder for organising this enjoyable and educational day. The pupils wrote up an account of the day as part of their Year 8 Course Work.
