What is the area like? Copacabana beach - what a wonderful location! Expensive hotels and high rise apartments. Lovely beach for sun, sea and sand and lots of sporting fun. Watch the girls or boys go by. Bikinis and sun tans. Walk, cycle or roller skate along the front in the cool of the evening. Visit the restaurants and night life.		Lots of tourists visit this area - which is world famous. This is the Zonal Sul - the south zone. The prices are very expensive. Only affluent professional people who have wealth from businesses in the city can afford to live here. The families live in luxury and employ servants. The are security guards to police and protect their apartments.
	What is the housing like? The area has high rise apartments and a very high density of buildings. The apartments are well built of modern materials like concrete and glass. They have proper plumbing and clean water supplies. Electricity is supplied and the flats have air conditioning to help with cooling.  The best apartments have excellent views out over the beach areas but property prices are very high. Only the most wealthy can afford the prime sites. What are the people like? The people can afford to be well protected with guards to keep out undesirables and servants to help with their domestic chores. The people tend to be well educated with professional careers. They tend to have small families.
What are the good points of the area? The quality of the environment is very good in terms of closeness to shops, services and leisure facilities. The people are well of and can afford expensive houses.		the area is popular with tourists an there are many business opportunities. there is plenty of nightlife and entertainment it is one of the most famous beach areas in the world - the 'beautiful people' are here. it is very close to the CBD.
	What are the bad points of the area? traffic congestion - it may be near the city centre but traffic is a nightmare. There is traffic noise all day and all night and the air quality is  poor. crime is  a problem. Pickpockets roam  everywhere. It is not safe after dark. There is a lot of poverty and beggars and hawkers constantly pester the rich. It is not safe for children to take themselves to school in such a busy city.
