MNQ setA game show for sports fans, Monday Night Quarterback features two teams of two (one mainstream celebrity and one football player) trying to predict what play a certain quarterback will make.

The game begins with host Jerry Kramer giving a brief background of the situation and three possible plays, only one of which really happened. A team chooses which play actually happened and the clip is shown (the home audience can see the play via the chroma key logo).

Every play results in either a first down or a touchdown. If a team correctly predicts a first down play, they score 3 points, but if they correctly predict a touchdown, they score 6 points. Both an incorrect prediction and a correct touchdown prediction pass control to the other team.

Halfway through the game, a different quarterback's moves must be predicted and the team ahead at the end of the game wins $500 for a boys' club in the winning football player's city.

Dick Martin, John Hadl, Peter Lawford, and Martin Pottios were the contestants on the pilot episode shown on Game Show Network. All film clips, including the clips used in the opening and closing credits, were from the NFL Films library.
