There is an additional stone in the centre of the paved area to indicate that the grave was restored by the Amy Dillwyn Society in 1992.

"To the Memory of ELIZABETH ACE. Who lived 28 Years as Cook in the family at Penrice Castle. Honest, chearfull & Kind hearted She suffered under a severe disease with Christian Patience and humility and died on the 20th day of March 1832 aged 58 Years."
She would therefore have been cook for Thomas Mansel Talbot, my Great Great Great Great Grandfather (who d 1813) and his wife and children including my Great Great Great Grandmother Jane Harriet Talbot. We also noticed that the graveyard of St Iltyd's, Oxwich contains a number of graves of the Ace family who were obviously local.

The inscription reads:
"Here Lie The Remains of Captain Sir Christopher Cole R.N. K.C.B.
Born 10th June 1770 Died 21st August 1836."
As you can see, this is an unusually shaped grave, with the cap and side stones arranged in a shape reminiscent of a naval hat. Sir Christopher was captain of a 74-gun ship, HMS Rippon. I'd be interested in any history...

Christopher Paul Mansel Methuen Campbell of Penrice.
Born 23rd March 1928 Died 8th January 1998
Christopher was my 4th cousin once removed, being a Great Great Great Grandson of Thomas Mansel Talbot.

"In Memory Of John Dillwyn Llewelyn F.R.S. of Penllergaer And Ynisygerwn. Founder Of This Church
Son Of Lewis Weston Dillwyn And Mary His Wife.
Born January 12th 1810 Died August 24th 1882 Aged 72."
(on the other side of the stone)
"Also Of Emma Thomasina Wife Of John Dillwyn Llewelyn And Daughter Of Thomas Mansel Talbot And The Lady Mary His Wife Of Margam And Penrice.
Born September 23rd 1806 Died April 19th 1881 Aged 74."
(and round the middle tier)
"The Rath Of The Just Is As The Shining Light That Shineth More And More Unto The Perfect Day. Proverbs IV.18"

"William Dillwyn Llewelyn
Born April 1st 1868 Died August 25th 1893
He Is Passed From Death Unto Life
God Hath Appointed Us To Salvation By Our Lord Jesus Christ That Whether We Wake Or Sleep We Should Live Together With Him "
This appears to be a somewhat abridged quote from the bible; the original is:
" For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. (1 Thess 5:9,10)"

The main inscription on the front of the stone reads:
"In Memory Of John Talbot Dillwyn Llewelyn Baronet Of Penllergaer
Born May 26th 1838 Died July 8th 1927
Also Of Dame Caroline Julia For 55 Years His Beloved Wife
Born 24th October 1839 Died 3rd March 1917"
On the left hand side of the stone is an additional inscription:
"Gwendoline Harriet Dillwyn Llewelyn. February 22nd 1867 - Januart 22nd 1944 RIP"

"Elinor Amy Dillwyn Llewelyn Born January 10th 1844 Died November 4th 1887
Lucy Catharine Dillwyn Llewelyn Born July 1 1846 Died April 1 1920
In The Shadow Of His Hand Hath He Hid Me Isaiah XLIX.2"
"John Michael Dillwyn Llewelyn
Born September 10th 1866 Died August 27th 1878
Thy Son Liveth And When He Was Beginning To Sink Jesus Stretched Forth His Hand And Caught Him"
I cannot find this as a quote from the bible at all.

"Mary Caroline Dillwyn Llewelyn
Born July 31st 1864 Died June 13th 1873
She Is Not dead But Sleepeth.
They Shall Be Mine Saith The Lord Of Hosts In That Day When I Make Up My Jewels"
The full quote is "And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his son that serveth him."
Malachi 3:17

"Sacred To The Memory Of The Reverend Montague Earle Welby
Born December 17th 1827 Died December 31st 1910
Christ Is All And In All"
(and on the other side)
"In Loving memory Of Mary Daughter Of L W Dillwyn Esq. MP
ife Of The Rev M Earle Welby
Born March 9th 1816 Died November 29th 1900
+ Tecum In Christo Resurgam + "

There is a final grave in this section, of William Rufus Lewis JP 1856-1930 and Kitty Glasbrook (his niece) who died in 1970. I have no idea why this is here or if there is any family connection or if it was just decided that all the Dillwyns were gone and the space should be used. If anyone ever reads this and knows the answer, please get in touch!

To The memory Of Henry Thomas Leopold Fox Strangways Lord Stavordale, Eldest Son of Henry Stephen 3rd Earl of Ilchester and of Caroline Leonora His Wife 2(nd?) daughter of the late Rt Rev Lord George Murray Of Athol Bishop of St Davids.
He was born January 8 1816 and died August 12th 1837
Short was the period of life thus permitted to him Its progress had been marked by the practice of those virtues which could most endear him to his family and to his friends and which gave the surest promise that he would have adorned the station he might have been called upon to fill.
In humble resignation to that blow by which these endearments have been cut off and that promise has been defeated this marble has been inscribed by his surviving parent.
The flower fadeth but the word of our God shall stand forever.

To the memory of Henry Thomas, Earl of Ilchester, who died September the 5th 1802. in the 56th Year of his age; and of Mary Theresa, his first wife, Daughter of Standish Grady, Esq. of the county of Limerick in the Kingdom of Ireland; to whom he was married in 1772, and by which Marriage he had eight children, two of whom died in Infancy, and are buried here.
By his second marriage with Maria, third daughter of William Digby, Dean of Durham, he had three sons, who, with their Brother Henry Stephen, the present Earl, and their five sisters, survive to lament the Loss of a most affectionate Father.
The purest Christian Humility was his perculiar Characteristic; from the Contemplation of which & his many other Virtues, his Widow, who thus records the Period of her severe Affliction derives the utmost Consolation, covinced that he for whom she mourns, is happy.
The said Maria, Countess of Ilchester, died Sep. 23rd 1842, in the 72nd Year of her Age; at Abbotsbury, in the County of Dorest.
The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Job Ch (?) V 21

The adjacent grave is of Thomas and Margaret Hart of Eccles (next village to Aylesford) but I am not aware of any relationship to Frederick Hart. It is possible that Thomas was Frederick's boss (1881 census) and may just be coincidence. Also, there is another Hart grave (William & Ellen) - this may have been the son of Thomas but are not known as related to Frederick.
