One Saturday in February 1962 I went with a friend Margaret Lees to Aston studios in Birmingham to see “THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS", little did I know that day would change the rest of my life.During the recording of the show Brian Matthew the presenter of the show asked if there were any kids in the audience who would like to audition for a panel in a new part of the show they were considering, called “SPIN A DISC," in which records would be played and judged by the panel and given a score out of five.When I got home I wrote and applied successfully for an audition, the following Sunday I went back to Aston studios, they called us in three at a time and played the records the first record was “Speak to me pretty” by Brenda Lee, I liked it very much and gave it five, Philip Jones the producer thanked me and said “we will let you know", Much to my amazement two days later I had a telegram to say I had been successful and had been invited to appear the following week, That would be first of a string of appearances that would last for three years.......................
