TOF693S, Leyland National Mk1 seen here after withdrawal and in use as a driver training vehicle. This was sold to Chase Bus Services in late 1998.
230HUE(BVP786V) Leyland Leopard, Plaxton Supreme III. This vehicle
was new to Midland Red as no. 786. It was then aquired by Midland
Red (North) in the 1981 split. It was re-registered as 230HUE in
1985 before it passed to Midland Red (South) in February 1987.
Later in life it aquired a TL11 engine to Leyland Tiger
specification. It was withdrawn form Midland Red South in 1999
and is now in service with Tamworth operator NETWORK 2000.
PHA383M, Ford R1014 Plaxton. This was new to Midland Red as 383.
It is seen here long after withdrawal. It was an unsuccesful preservation attempt and a defective engine meant a trip to the
scrap yard back in 1990 for old 383 - I am not sure if it ever
did survive.
UHA191H Daimler Fleetline, Alexander. This was new as 6191 and
served most of its life at Tamworth depot before being sold to
Ribble in 1987. It is seen here after preservation posing next
to sister vehicle 6225 at Leicester's annual bus rally. It was
later sold back into the commercial world and is now a mobile
cafe for a film company spending its layover time in West Bromwich.
CHA433K Leyland Leopard 6433. Seen here after withdrawal from
service in the old compound at the rear of Worcester garage.
I remember this very well, as it and several other ex Midland
Red Leopards added memomento's to my school boy collection of
bus bits. I can remember being questioned by the driver of the
Birimgham bus who was suspicious about the grill off 204 JHA204L
joining us for the return journey along with several lights a
steering wheel and a couple of destination blinds!
