WELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL SHOWSWELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL SHOWS
This year our first show will be in JULY on SAT.27th & SUN.28th at ST. JOHNS CHURCH HALL WEST AVE.This show has 25 classes for VEGETABLES + 6 for fruit,there are 5 trophies & 1 medal to win in this section.
Following this is the flower & pot plant section with 35 classes there are also 6 trophies & 3 medals to win.All these classes are open for anybody to come and have a try. (Inclued in this section are 4 classes for FUCHSIAS with a trophy to be won for most points in these classes.The trophy was donated by the S.D.F.S.(SCARBOROUGH & DISTRICT FUCHSIA SOCIETY)
This year we are introducing a class for a decorated egg after a request from some local people who have to go out of town if they want to show their eggs.Last year we reintroduced the FLORAL ART section, this also has been brought back after a lapse of 10 years,this section has a very nice shield to be won. There are 2 classes to contest in this section.
The last section in this show is the WINE section with 8 classes to have a go in, we have had in recent years as many as 70 entries, but in the last 2 years entries have fallen.There is a trophy for best wine in show.
Our second show is in September Wed 5th & Thurs 6th at the same venue as July. This show has 5 sections,
(NO1) CHRYSANTHEMUMS, with 11 classes including one for the novice, 1 trophy for most points in section,& 1 trophy for best novice. The main awards are the Silver & Bronze medals with cards, and the certificate of merit.
(NO2) DAHLIAS, there are 15 classes including 1 for best novice. 1 Rosette,Silver & Bronze medals with cards,& 1 trophy with 1 trophy for novice.
(NO3) GLADIOLI, has 6 classes also including 1 for novice,1 trophy to novice and one to go to remaining section. There is also a silver & Bronze medal,plus 1 rosette.
(NO4)Flowers & POT PLANT, (included in this section are 5 classes for Carnations with a Trophy and medal card.)13 classes remain in this section with 1 trophy and 3 medals to be won.
(NO5)Vegetables,25 classes are in this section with 1 trophy and 4 medals to be won.There is also 1 trophy for the person winning most points in show.At the present moment we have no junior classes at this show but should we get any juniors wanting to grow and show vegetables then we would consider putting on a class for them.
