Geordie Fantasy League

The Geordie Fantasy League was born out of the Vodka & Red Bull Premier League, which was originally formed as a mini-league amongst a small group of friends from the North East of England on the Can You kick It (CYKI) website.

We decided to pay £1-00 per week, and at the end of the season award prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As there was only 5 original paying entrants, these prizes were as follows: £100, £50 and £25, which was 100% of the money paid into the prize fund throughout the season.

At the end of the season, there was 12 teams in total, and so hopefully, as word spreads, and friends of friends enter the 2002/03 season, the prize fund will grow, but will remain a 100% payout league.

As most of the participants are from, or support Newcastle, the league founder
(S. Hackworth), decided to change the name to the Geordie Fantasy League, for the 2002/03 season, to give it a more Newcastle/NUFC feel.

The league itself, and all the scoring is now hosted on premierleague.com website as CYKI didn't have a league for 2002/03, however the game was still developed by the same people. Specific news and features about the Geordie Fantasy League will be displayed here throughout the season.

If other people are interested in joining, it may be considered, but payment details will have to be worked out - follow the email link above.

And finally, good luck for the season ahead!
