Following the development of the X80, the new XPower SV is a modern supercar that may offer 965 bhp in tuned form. This two-seater will be the top model in the MG line-up, although little details are offered about it or any upcoming derivatives. What makes this concept car unique is its carbon-fibre body featuring a flat undertray. Front and rear diffusers are installed in the undertray. These devices were designed by Steve Randle who was responsible for the McLaren F1's areodynamic package. Whether or not such a setup will be used on the production cars is unknown. A Sean Hyland tuned 5.0-litre, quad-cam, V8 engine powers the SV Concept. With this engine, MG-Rover claims the SV reaches 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed somewhere around 200 mph. These figures relate only to this concept car and may be carried over to the production version. A race program is also being considered with this new MG. This concept car features rollover protection provided by a tubular structure which complies with FIA competition specifications. MG-Rover also claim the engine will be able to reach 965bhp in race tune. Road-going SVs have a planned release date of spring 2003. It will be offered in plain SV spec, having 326bhp or SV Club Sport spec, having 410bhp. Whether or not the SV will accually reach production is anyones guess. |

It may not seem long since the launch of the Evo VII, but number VIII is on the way - January 2003 for American buyers, slightly later for the UK. American dealers received their first top-secret preview in Las Vegas a week or so ago and, in the meantime, prototypes are out testing. Our pictures indicate that Evo VIII - based on the bodyshell of the next-generation Cedia saloon (2004) - looks a little more aggressive than the VII, with a new front grille and bumper and a more swept-back rear window. There will be more substantial changes under the bonnet, however: a remapped ECU will bring power up (to an estimated 280 bhp for entry-level US models) and revised active yaw control will sharpen driving dynamics even further. GSR versions are set to receive a new six-speed manual gearbox, and stripped-out RS models will have an ultra-close-ratio five-speed box, with rally use specifically in mind. Evo VIII will have to contend with the new Impreza WRX - on its way with less controversially-styled headlights and a power upgrade for 2003. It's going to be fun deciding which car has the edge... |

One of the fastest vehicles on this planet, well O.K, only if you push it off a cliff. But It must be damn right useful with all that space in the back. This particular van shown in the picture is my friend Jonathan's Dads work van, he insisted that I put it on my site so he can laugh at his Dad. The Van probley has a top speed of around 65-70mph and 0-60mph time of 18 seconds. But hey, do you really need speed when its a van. If anyone out there knows somebody with a white van and has a picture of it too, and i get enough replies, I will make a dedicated page to WHITE VAN MAN. |
