Living in Edinburgh as we do, and given that the Edinburgh Festival is on
throughout August, we were never without our camera, so it was on August
20th that we both took a photo & sent them to the competition, never
thinking for a moment that we'd get anywhere. You can imagine our
surprise when not only the photo of Carlie, but mine also, made the final
20. The 20 finalists had their photo's put into a book & their
pictures exhibited at The Dean Gallery (24th September to 23rd October).
Not only that we were also invited to an exclusive awards reception at The
Dean Gallery, were we received our books from none other than Jack
McConnell, The Scottish First Minister. Miss Scotland (Aisling
Friel) was also in attendance & Carlie was impressed as I managed to
completely blank her when she asked about my photo, though of course that
was unintentional as I would never be purposefully rude to anyone.
The main prize of £600 of camera equipment was announced on the night.
Needless to say Carlie's picture & my picture didn't win that (that honour
went to a girl from Glasgow), but the free bar came in VERY handy,
especially as I had just found out earlier that day that I had been
promoted at work. |
