Second Night Out – Trans-Mission In Manchester June 21st
This was a momentous day in history. A day that will always be remembered. Yes you guessed it Harry Potter book 5 was published. Well okay there was something else happening as well. Trans-Mission was being held in Manchester, and I was going. Of course by now I was a seasoned partygoer. Ooh I had been out, how many times before? Ah yes just the once. I had previously attended the Angels debutante’s ball at Trans-Mission in London. Of course you all know that because you have all read about that elsewhere on this site haven’t you? You better have because there will be a quiz later you know! That was an amazing night, and such a special way to make my first steps onto the social scene. When I found out that the Trans-Mission girls were holding an event in Manchester, and that Jodie, Nas, and Tracy were taking the Boudoir girls up there I just had to make sure that I went with them. Of course once Jodie found me hiding in her suitcase with six days food supply, a television and a copy of Hello magazine I had to get out and book like everyone else. Maybe I should have left it until the night before they went, and not two months before. Anyway I digress. I had heard from a lot of girls that the Manchester scene was really great, and they had all seemed to have such fun, that I just had to give it a go.
I was a lot more relaxed about the whole event this time. Mind you since I am such a shy little moppet and can worry and stress about things that I really shouldn’t, it would have been something of an achievement to have been less relaxed. On this weekend I would have to book a room at a hotel, as it wasn’t really practical to run back to Birmingham at 2 o’clock in the morning, particularly in the heels I was wearing. Luckily I had been corresponding with a lovely fellow Angel called Antonia, and we decided to share a room there. We exchanged mobile phone numbers and made our plans (cue evil maniacal laugh).
Saturday morning came, (just after Friday night as it happened) and I merrily skipped along to the train station. Well okay perhaps I didn’t actually skip, or even dorito, but I was in a pretty good mood. I picked up my copy of Order Of The Phoenix (yes okay admit it I like Harry Potter!), and caught my train. I needed a pretty big net, and it put up a bit of a struggle, but I got it in the end. Yes it was all going well, perhaps a little too well. As the train got nearer to Manchester I wondered why I hadn’t heard from Antonia. I knew which hotel we were staying at, but in the fine traditions of Emma Banin’s world I had no idea where it was, or how to get to it (if you have read my experiences at the Angel’s debutante’s ball this would actually make some kind of sense to you). The train pulled into Manchester Piccadilly, and I walked to the main concourse wondering just precisely what I was going to do now. Fortunately I saw Antonia (in drab) waiting for me at the entrance. What a relief! She had been texting me, and worrying why I and not replied to any of her messages. It wasn’t until we checked the numbers that we had given each other that we realised that Antonia did not have my correct phone number! Since all her messages had been sent, I can only assume that some girl or guy had received a lot of confusing text messages about meeting up for Trans-Mission!
So after a bit of a walk we finally got to the hotel only to discover to my horror a crowd of rugby fans all booking in to the hotel. Now to any other sensible girl this would not be a problem, but in my tiny little mind I had vision of being rugby tackled by some drunken louts in my little black dress and heels. “Eek”, I thought to myself, but it was too late to turn back and after we had booked in we made our way up the rather palatial staircase to our rooms, somewhere near the summit, err I mean the fourth floor.
After unpacking our stuff, and having a cup of tea, Antonia rang Jodie, who was staying in the same hotel, and found out when our appointments were. We got to Jodie’s room, and she and Nas started to perform their magic. Jodie really excelled herself this time, because being the dopey cow that I am I had not bought a wig with me. All Jodie had was this blonde wig in a short bob style. Now what she did with that wig and a can of hairspray was nothing short of a miracle. I was truly amazed at the results (which can be seen in gallery 2). That girl is just incredible! Nas was also up to her usual high standards, doing both Antonia, and my nails beautifully. These girls (along with Tracy) work so hard to make each girl’s night so special, and I really would recommend any t girl who wants a fun and special night out to give Jodie a call.
Now Jodie had just done Antonia’s makeup, and had begun to do mine whilst Nas did Antonia’s nails, and there was a knock at the door. Tracy opened the door, and there was this tall blonde guy standing there. Jodie asked him what his name was, and he said Chris. Jodie was trying to find a time when to fit Chris in for a makeover, and Chris was looking increasingly confused when he finally said, “I’m here to fix your shower”. He was a maintenance guy from the hotel who had almost been made over by Jodie!!
After Jodie and Nas had finished their work, and Antonia and I had changed into our outfits for the night, we had to go back to our room as Jodie had a few makeovers to perform and there simply wasn’t space for all of us in their room. On our way back Antonia and I bumped into a couple on their way up to their rooms, and they look over at us. I was quite surprised not to fall totally to pieces over this, but you know something? It didn’t really bother me that much. I think that it goes to show that as you get out more your confidence does grow. Before the debutante’s ball I would never had dreamed that I would be walking around in public en femme. So to all you girls out there who are shy or worried. There is hope, because if I can do it, anyone can!
The time for leaving for the pre-meal drink came, and we all met up outside Jodie’s room and made our way to the lift. The other girls all looked amazing, and Jodie took a photo of us all on the staircase before we got into several taxis and zoomed off into the night. Of course since this involved me, we couldn’t just go to the right place could we? Yep you guessed it, we promptly drove to the wrong venue! Of course the one big advantage of this is that it meant that I got to spend a bit more time with my taxi companions the truly lovely Davina Daniels and her equally lovely wife Jackie. That was a big plus for me, as anyone who knows them, knows what wonderful people they are. Eventually though we did get to the right place, and enjoyed a very nice drink followed by a walk over to the restaurant. Whilst we walked over there a couple of drunks did call us a variety of names, but when they were facing something like 20 or 30 t-girls, they didn’t really stand a chance!
The meal was gorgeous, held in a very nice restaurant that had a very nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Kim Angel came to each table and made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves, as did Jodie with her Boudoir girls. Antonia sat on my right hand side, whilst a girl called Kate sat on my left. She was great fun to meet, and very attractive, think of Katie Hill but better looking. After the meal all the girls went off to the club and partied the night away.
The club itself was very nice and relaxed, and it was a very different kind of experience to Trans-Mission in London, but of course both are utterly wonderful! Several of us sat round and chatted, and of course danced! Kate who was local to the area, was kind enough to show Antonia and myself around the area, and we went to a few clubs before making our way back to the Trans-Mission venue to sit outside and enjoy the whole amazing atmosphere. Walking from venue to venue in such a relaxed atmosphere felt so completely natural, and how my life should really be.
I can’t remember the time, but after chatting and enjoying the evening for sometime we eventually we decided to make our way back to the hotel. We got a taxi back, and the front too, along with the wheels, the engine, and some seats to sit on and eventually arrived back at the hotel. We didn’t even need to show our key cards to the doormen (which is a good job because I didn’t even realise we had a key card!). They were very polite and ushered us inside with an “Evening ladies”. The whole evening was brilliant. The taxi drivers, the people at the restaurant, the people at the club, and the doormen at the hotel were all extremely friendly and really help make the whole evening.
I was sad to end the night, and even sadder the following morning when Antonia and I went to the train station to get our trains back to our homes. This was a very special weekend. One filled with wonderful people, and magical moments. What I did not realise until after I had got back from Manchester was that Becky Enverite had been sitting almost opposite me at the meal! I had been wanting to meet up with her for ages, and it wasn’t until we were chatting on the net that we realised that we had met each other; we just didn’t know it!!
It was such fun, and I would like to thank the following girls for making it so special: Jodie, Nas, and Tracy – You have made such a huge difference to my life I can never thank you enough, and I have run out of words to say how amazing you are!! To Kim, Jo, Vicky and Jasmine – You have created two incredible things in The UK Angels and Trans-Mission, that mean so much to so many girls. Thank you so much being so fabulous! Antonia – It was great fun to meet you, you are a real darling and you looked so wonderful! Davina and Jackie – Do you realise just how special you both are? You are as beautiful inside as you look on the outside! Kate – You looked stunning, thanks for being so kind, and good luck for the future.
