No he is not and if you ever want to find the really good trance music out there you are going to have to leave him behind. He can play records....wow! Also, just becasue Tiesto is higher in ranking doesnt make him a better artist/DJ. Rankings like DJ mags Top 100 is mostly a measure of how much commercial exposure the DJ gets hence Tiesto has been at the top for many years because he has the most number of albums under his name than any other trance DJ and probably any DJ for that matter because he realised in 1998 or there abouts that unless you had exposure to the masses as a DJ you were unlikely to make a respectable living off it and so released lots of albums to secure his name in Trance music......hence you get lots of people saying he is the best because that is all they have heard.
In addition to this, trance music is about the music NOT the DJ playing it. Some of his mixes have 1/4 of them as undancable breakdowns which means all the thousands of people there have nothing to do...well untill a stupid MC tells them to make some noise for Tiesto which of course prompts all of them like mindless zombies to cheer for him. Seriously, if that MC had said Tiesto wants you all to strip naked they all would have.
That said he has made some good tracks so shouldnt be written off completely but there is MUCH better stuff out there than bloody Agagio For Strings which was a complete sell out on his part after witnessing Ferry Corsten's success with his remix of William Orbit's "Barber's Adagio For Strings".

I have just found out that Tiesto doesnt even make his own music. He comes up with an idea, someone makes it for him, he then tweaks it a bit and then puts his name on it. Thats why most of his tracks are collaborations, so the other artist can make the music for him. Some god Tiesto himsel actually is!
