 Biography, Photo's & Artists
It was always
a mystery to Eddie's parents that just hours after buying him his
first guitar as a present for his twelfth birthday he had mastered
enough chords to play along with a couple of tunes. It was
also a mystery to his teachers why Eddie wasn't in school that day,
but neither they or his parents ever made the connection.
It didn't take long before he was jamming along to albums by Hendrix,
Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin and Wishbone Ash
and not long after he turned seventeen he went on the road full time as a guitarist in
a covers band, working four and five hour gigs up and down the country.
Through the seventies, and after a stream of jobs in commercial
and rock bands, Eddie joined forces with musicians from Cambridge
including Roger Newell,
(bass player with Rick Wakeman and currently bassist with Marty Wilde & the Wildcats and Deputy Editor of Guitarist
Magazine), and set up the successful rock band 'TRUX', a management
company and record company to look after the bands interests.
Then in 1983 following the release of their single "Bad Luck" which
reached number 9 in the rock charts, there was a disagreement in
the band and a year later Eddie found a different direction for
his talents, as a founding member of the hugely successful Guitarist
Magazine, eventually becoming Editor.
During his career
on the magazine, he interviewed most of the biggest names in the
world of guitar as well as reviewing thousands of amps, guitars
and accessories and still contributes articles and reviews when
his hectic schedule allows.
It was during this time with Guitarist Magazine that Eddie was asked
to join the Wildcats, the band of rock and roll legend Marty Wilde.
Over the last ten years Marty Wilde and the Wildcats have headlined
nine successful UK tours, headlined nearly every major theatre and
venue in Britain including the Royal Albert Hall and the London
Palladium, as wll as continuing a punishing schedule of one night
stands up and down the country.
Since the beginning of 1998 Eddie has added to that schedule by
taking on one of the most demanding jobs in the music business as
the British Amplifier and Product Specialist for Fender.
This means he is continually touring the UK and Benelux countries
demonstrating the wide range of Fender amplifiers and providing
support for both the sales teams and the customer, which has won
him the prestigious Fender Millenium Achievement Award. Click Here to view, print or download A4 Publicity Photograph.
