Nani is Lilo's older sister. After the death of their parents, Nani has become Lilo's legal guardian, which is a lot of responsibility for this nineteen-year-old who used to enjoy carefree days of dating and surf championships. Now, life is a pressure-cooker of daily challenges as Nani tries to hold down a job, raise a small child, and elude the constant scrutiny of the Child Welfare Department so she can maintain custody of her little sister. Although her adventurous, athletic spirit has been somewhat caged by her newfound responsibilities, the most important thing to Nani is keeping what is left of her family together. Stitch is also called experiment 626. He resulted from an unauthorized Genetic experiment by a mad scientist named Jumba. Stitch was designed by Jumba to have no ability to care and is the ultimate fighting machine and the destroyer of cities. Stitch is also abnormally strong, virtually indestructible, smarter than a super-computer, and very mischievous. Stitch is programmed to destroy everything in his path and can't help himself until Lilo find something that has never happened before, that is being a part of a family. Jumba Jookiba is a renegade alien scientist responsible for the genetic experiment that created stitch. Jumba Jookiba was imprisoned due to his unlawful experiments to create the genetic mutation, Stitch. Although he is brilliant, Jumba is a boisterous loudmouth and has serious anger management issues. In exchange for his freedom, Jumba agrees to travel to Earth with Pleakley to recapture Stitch. Jumba has a large frame, four eyes, and a thick Russian accent which makes him an unlikely candidate for the undercover mission, but his expertise cannot be denied: he knows Stitch better than anyone in the universe because he created him. Politely is Jumba's assistant and has only learned things about Earth from a view master. Pleakley is a uptight, nervous, rule-bound but enthusiastic Earth hobbyist. He is the only alien with any knowledge of the distant planet Earth. The Grand Councilwoman puts Pleakley in charge of a covert mission to retrieve Stitch and pairs him with Jumba. Like his partner, Pleakley has a tough time blending in on Earth due to his three legs, single gigantic eye, and gelatin-like, boneless body. To further compound the problem, all of Pleakley's knowledge of Earth comes from a GAF Viewmaster, so his expertise on the planet and its inhabitants is somewhat skewed, to say the least. David is a strapping, tanned twenty-three-year-old Hawaiian surfer who makes his living crafting surfboards. Those who would assume that he's just another addled, dim-witted "surf dude" would find themselves mistaken. Behind his calm demeanor, David is quite intelligent with a quick wit and slightly odd sense of humor. David and Nani used to date, but the pressures of raising Lilo have forced them to just be "good friends." Shrewd, calculating, and controlled, the Grand Councilwoman is the embodiment of the ethics and principles enforced by the alien Galactic Council, an interplanetary United Nations over which she presides. She is charged with upholding peace and harmony within the boundaries of the Galactic Federation, a task she does not take lightly. The Grand Councilwoman's directives are clear, and her convictions are unwavering. Her decision-making process is not tainted by mere emotions. Captain Gantu is the intimidating captain of the elite Galactic Federation Armada. He stands an imposing 25 feet tall and believes Stitch is an abomination of nature, one that deserves no amount of mercy or compassion. His hatred is compounded when Stitch escapes from his ship, disgracing Gantu in front of the Galactic Federation. The ultimate social worker. Cobra Bubbles is a no-nonsense, cunning, unshakable master of the art of child welfare. He is the one they call when things go wrong, and indeed, things have gone very wrong. After exposure to Lilo, three of his predecessors were all "retired" with nervous breakdowns, so the U.S. Department of Social Services had to pull out all stops. Enter Cobra (as tattooed on his knuckles) Bubbles (don't call him "Mr. Bubbles," it's a sensitive issue with him). His appearance suggests a mysterious past. His avoidance of personal questions confirms it. Despite his professional demeanor, Cobra soon finds himself both baffled and charmed by Lilo's quirky personality, and he struggles to remain impartial as his affection for the two sisters grows. Nevertheless, his ever-watchful, critical eye has Nani fearful that she may truly lose custody of Lilo. |
