You see, it's very difficult to choose your character as a way you want to be to fit into this universe, the great universe of Sonic. Here I'd like to present you Diana the Cat. The character I become when I dive into this universe of mine, a mixture of the original Sonic universe and a bit of fantasy of my own. You'll see that characters can change in time - just as do human beings.

   1994: How it all Began

It had been a summer and it all started with this really weird dream I had had this one night. In that dream I still had been human (under my real name), but also had had blond hair (which I have not; my hair is more of a dark brown). In it Sonic fell from the sky and I found him in the forest. He would have died from his wounds if I hadn't brought him to my father and would have healed him. Somehow the dream must have played in a distant future, because the humans already knew about the technology of beaming. Obviously so did Robotnik.
As Sonic told me and my father as he regained consciousness, he had attempted to free princess Sally from Robotnik. The tyrant however had lured him into a trap, captured him inside an energy ball and beamed him straightly to earth, or at least somewhere not very near the ground. He injured himself as the energy ball broke and fell from the sky.
However, the decision was made that I would join Sonic in the mission to get back to his home planet and free princess Sally. Since the nearest beam station still was a few days of flight away from Mobius, we had to take a rocket from the station to Sonic's home planet. During these few days we became something like friends.
As we arrived on Mobius, the first thing we did, was going back to Knothole where I got aquatinted with Bunnie, Tails and a beaver called Oscar (he will also appear in my fanfiction). Soon we had figured out how to free Sally. As means of transportation we took something which I used to call rocket belt back then. As I can remember, it was an iron belt with two small rockets attached on ether side that allowed us, Bunnie and me, to almost attain Sonic in speed.
Overcoming numerous adventures and obstacles - (I only have dim memory about them, more like a few images etched into my mind...) like almost being killed by the laser of a hover unit, sneaking into the main building of Robotropolis (where Robotnik held Sally) by grabbing on the under side of a hover unit to fly us to an entrance high up above the ground or being almost robotocized if it hadn't been for Sonic rescuing us - we finally managed to free Sally and return back to Knothole. This is where the dream ended.
This dream had been so intense that I wanted to write it. In the end it became a story of about 40 handwritten pages (imagine that I had been 12 years old back then). Of course the story had a real ending where I returned home safely and I also tried to erase some logical mistakes and make the whole thing more detailed. Still I never published it and never read or gave it to anyone. But it was my first fan fiction.

   1995: Introducing Knuckles

It was in this year that I first heard about Sonic 3 coming out and I bought it, of course. From the beginning on, although he was on the side of Robotnik, I found Knuckles to be a very sympathetic character. It was he who finally persuaded me to write the second story with about the same length. In it Diana had her first appearance as a feline. I don't really remember how I came to make her a cat (my favorite animals had been dolphins back then). But I still know how I had chosen the name for her. I really had a weakness for princesses back then, as all girls do, and I especially liked princess Diana (at first I thought to call my character Diane, so the connection wouldn't be to evident, but later I decided otherwise).
Another thing is the character of Super Diane, equivalent to Super Sonic. I liked the idea that Diana would be able to control the Chaos Emeralds or is controlled by them to a certain point (this idea will reappear in my fan fiction, as you will see). Later I thought it to be stupid to make something of my character which Sonic and the characters of the SEGA games are unique for and that actually doesn't appear in the Sonic SatAM series. So then finally I let Super Diane disappear again.
The second story? In the end it proved to be not as good as I had thought in the first place and so I will not get into it. If you would still like me to publish the contents then Mail me!

1998: The Miracle of the Internet

It had been two years since I hadn't done anything concerning Sonic. Worse, I had even almost forgotten the series. It was the year when my father had bought us a cable modem and the year that my Sailor Moon mania (I know, I know, shame on me!) was just about to wear off. By coincidence I surfed across some Sonic sites one day dealing with my loved Sonic SatAM series and the fever started once more.
Another story! I wanted to write anther story and soon began with a new concept. I knew that this story would be the biggest thing I had ever done so far (and I had written many during this none-Sonic time). It was only after I had done this concept that I actually ran across some other fanfictions on the net (I became a real fan of Dan Drazen's) and to be honest, although it was very logical that others would write a story about their favorite hedgehog and his friends, I was surprised to be not the only one.
In this year I also took out my old Diane drawings and changed the name to Diana. Since I didn't like the old character design anymore and my drawing style had evolved in these past years I decided to make a new one. I even made a real "settai" to it, as the Japanese call a character sheet for a cartoon or a manga.

   1999: The SatAM Design

The new fanfiction (I only had found out on the net that these stories about something you like are called fanfictions) came to a rest in the beginning of this year as I started to draw a comic (a manga) for a school project and worked on it for the next months. It was only at the end of the year when a real panic struck me that I probably wouldn't finish the story at all... at this time I began to write again like crazy and finally managed to finish the second part of "Voyages". I had started with the second part for various reasons and continued with the first one ofter it (in my momentary opinion the worst of them all considering story, action and right placement of tense parts). So I just hope you will not get too disappointed in reading it. It's just there to throw a few questions into the scene to make the continuing story more interesting.
At the time being, although only a year had passed I couldn't look at the old character design of Diana anymore and decided again that it was time to think of something new. This time I knew that I would be orientating myself a little bit more on the character design of the SatAM series and in the end it proved not to be a bad decision.

   2002: Inspiration from a Site

My character had been changing continually from 1999 to this year. The body became less stiff and the proportions of the hands started become better. I had also started some drawings where perspective played a very important role. This sounds easy to some, but I found it quiet challenging to get the size of the body parts which are in the front or back right. May it be as it may, once upon an evening when I surfed through the net, I came across Bara-chan’s Cyber Garden - and this was like a revelation to me. The style the characters were drawn in was, although very anime-like, amazingly beautiful. I just knew that I had to do something like that! So the first thing I did, was sitting at the drawing table again and trying to ban the inspiration into lines and color. Like that, the design of Diana the Cat was once more altered to a less SatAMish style, to something I knew I had developed during my time when I had been drawing anime characters - mingled with Bara-chan’s way to draw. I was more then satisfied with the result and thus kept, what had started almost as an experiment at first, as the new design.

My fanfiction is finished now and so is the development of Diana. I shall turn to new things now. The story has developed with me and my personality in the last few years as all stories develop with the one who writes it.
During this time Diana the Cat has become a part of me - although I don't really like this part of my character - and I have started to see her as a hidden part of my soul... If you'd like to know something about the reasons why I wrote this fan fiction, you may go to the reasons page.
