Anho- Cockpit (pic from Tony)

Hull of the Infinity. Identical to the Liberty 458 and slightly longer than the Peterson 44.

Hatch for owners stateroom.

Sail Plan

The picture above came from the website of the SV Loveda. The interior of the SV Loveda is different from the other Delta 46 boats I have come across. It only has one head, located forward. Infinity has two. In exchange Loveda has an extra starboard berth aft. My workshop is located on the starboard side and Loveda has one on the port side. It seems the boats had many possible configurations.

The Delta 46 and Liberty 458 are very similar. They were both made by the Shin Fa yard. Similarities are the hull and the raised quarter deck. It seems the Delta 46 yachts were made before the Liberty 458 and were the basis of the Libery 458. The Delta's were made to a German specification for Delta Marine Gmbh and the Liberty 458 was made to American specs by Peter Hoyt. Europeans seem to have a fondness for the Ketch rig so that may explain the different choice of rig. Though I found a Delta 46 cutter in Germany. So there may have been some overlap. The ketch rig may be the reason for the two and a half foot bowsprit. It effectively increases the sail area and also provides a great place to deploy the anchors. The bowsprit increases the LOA of the Delta 46 ketch to 48 feet 6 inches. The Liberty 458 with the cutter rig has a 62 foot 5 inch bridge clearance, and the Delta 46 ketch rigged has a 57 foot clearance. I would imagine that the Delta 46 rigged as a cutter would also have the taller mast. Either way, whichever rig is choosen they are great boats, sail well, and have lots of space.

The hull was derived from the Peterson 44 which the Shin Fa yard had been building for Jack Kelly. Shin Fa eventually built longer version of the Peterson 44 using the original offsets which became the Delta 46. The length of the boat became 46 feet and the headroom increased dramatically due to the raised quarter deck. The aft stateroom has a headroom of 6'5 inches. The saloon and heads have a headroom of 6'4.
