Tip Application examples

The fine, non-aggresive Periofine Tips are intended for dental control, They are recommended in the prevention (prophylactic treatment) or maintenance phase. They allow a fine and painless treatment

The Periohard Tips with or with out diamond coating are intended for pocket debridement either non-surgical or after flap raising. They are part of the ultrasonic treatment of pockets (T.U.P or U.R.M method.

Ultrasonic periodontal maintenance: clinical evolution through technological advances.

As with periodontitis, the etiological role of the bacterial infection in peri-implant disease(peri implantitis and mucositis) is widely recognised. There is a positive correlation between plaque growth and maturation and the degree of implant roughness and rough surfaces carry 25 times as many bacteria as smooth surfaces, with a much more complex flora. Maintenance is not the end but rather the true continuation of periodontal and implant treatment. It is as active as other treatment phases and follows strict principles both in the choice of appointment periodicity and in the progress of a procedure or in the psychological approach to a patient. The periodical maintenance of implant surfaces, both by the patient and by dental professionals, is the key to the long-term success of dental implants. Dental plaque and calculi can form on abutments and such deposits must be removed without compromising the implant abutment surface and the soft tissue, which are often altered by scaling procedures. Unlike plastic curettes, metal curettes are known to increase the surface roughness of implant abutments. This is why Pr H Himeno developed the concept of ultrasonic tips made from composite materials.

The Periosoft microtips allow preventive periodontal treatment or periodical maintenance. They also allow emergency treatments or treatments during the surgical phase without any risk of injuring the surrounding tissues or damaging the implant abutment. Moreover, during the maintenance phase, the periosoft tips are recommended for dental plaque control and surface polishing.

The PH2L,PH2R and PH1 are recommended for:
 1) During the treatment phase.
Debridement and polishing(complementary to the treatment of peripheral natural teeth with periohard tips or prosthesis restoration with the PB line of periosoft tips.
Dental plaque prevention and control at sulcus level during the acute phase of periodontal disease.
2) During the treatment phase.
Scaling and surfacing.  <br>Dental plaque maintenance.

The power setting used should be as low as possible (see settings table) and without excessive pressure. The new SATELEC generators have been designed to avoid damage;if excessive pressure is applied, the tip motion amplitude will become insufficient and vibration will stop. For am optimum efficiency, these microtips require a pressure used on water colour brushes.
Depending on the type of devise used, the irrigation solution can be water, sterile water or a specific irrigant. The PH line of microtips has been specifically designed to be compatible with the titanium alloy abutment surfaces. The compost material (carbon) contains no abrasive particles. As a result, the implant abutment surface will exhibit no roughness of instrument marks.
