GLEAM
- The
Green Lanes Environmental Action Movement: main long-term
aim is to secure primary legislation to reclassify unsurfaced BOATs
and UCRs as Restricted Byways. The timing for the introduction of
such new legislation is probably at least two years away. Until this can
be achieved, local Highway Authorities should be persuaded to protect
vulnerable BOATs by putting permanent Traffic Regulation Orders on them.
In spite of the cost involved, this would be cheaper than having to
repair the damage caused by off-roaders.
With the help of its members in the House of Commons and in the Lords, GLEAM's lobbying has
been highly successful so far. A growing number of MPs now
support us, among them 86 MPs who are honary members of GLEAM. But
your help is needed, too. GLEAM PO Box 5206,
