Lostwithiel Quilt - Sir Richard Grenvile's Army
The Royalist Army marching along the bottom is Sir Richard Grenvile's infantry of musketeers and pikemen coming across Respryn bridge from Truro and Bodmin, where they had retreated on hearing the advance of the Parliamentarians into Cornwall. I made three attempts at this horse and I am only just satisfied with the one you see now. The illustration was taken from a colouring card for children sold by the English Civil War Society. I used a bugle bead and a small round bead for the bandoliers and pipecleaners for the swords and pipes.
