Posting by Rikki James.

Hi Team,

As it's "the big one" next year (20th anniversary of the SSVC), In case you are not aware I have been negotiating with a guy from Finland, who owns the oldest split screen van out side of the official vw museum, he is prepared (with a little bit of encouragement) to bring his very early 1950 panel van over for our show!
This will be the first time a 1950 bus has ever set foot (tyre) in the UK! and will also complete the "one from every year" club display!

This anniversary display will be unique, in terms of size and interest. The
display we are planning will be from 1950! to present day!

Imagine 53 buses lined up, with a print out of detail changes etc on each vehicle, it's going to be a lot of hard work but at the end of the day, you're probably not going to see anything like this ever again! (not organised by me that's for sure!).

I know it's early days yet, however, if you have a nice interesting bus, and
would like to be part of this one off display, please let me know.

Many Thanx

C ya................Rikki.

1954 MUSCLE BUS DE-LUXE!

Spain 2002

The club has just returned from a trip to northern Spain, with 17 people and 9 buses. After catching the ferry to Bilbao from
Portsmouth, we drove along the coastline to a small town called Caravia, where we stayed for 5 days, then some drove to Noja,
to stay with the beach thing, others travelled into the Picos de Europas mountain range, with roads higher than Ben Nevis
it was certainly an eye opener.

After the mountains we drove to the east side of Bilbao to a place called Mundaka, this place is famous for having the longest
left hand surf break in the world.

After 10 days in Spain, we caught the ferry back to Portsmouth.

Heres a picture of Kerri and Dean at the start line at Santa Pod, Big Bang was the show, it rained in the morning on the sunday,
but in the afternoon, after many had gone home, they opened the track for the Run What You Brung racing.

This picture also at Santa Pod, this at Bug Jam 2002. Jim and Neily raced each other, I know what your thinking....Jim has
a Turbo engine. But.....A split second after this photo was taken Jim's driveshaft snapped and Neily beat him!!

Here's us in the convoy from Stanford Hall to Big Bang, there was about 25 splits all in convoy. Only problem was when we stopped for petrol, it took about an hour to feed everyone through and the forecourt was'nt big enough!!

Poland 2001

Last August/September some of the club members drove to Poland for a show that they were invited to by a guy called Filip. Much to Filip's amazement we took him up on his offer and travelled via a ferry to Hamburg to poland across Germany, we visited the Autostadt Museum in Wolfsburg and also Berlin.

We spent 3 days in Poland at the Garby Show near Poznan, Garby is Polish for Beetle.

Photos to follow but the picture of Steve and Barry was taken in Berlin.
