Bramble
A tribute to our horse Bramble.

Re-enactment
period living history impression.

Horse furniture comprised a brown leather head stall, bridle, saddle and reins. Rifle bucket, sword frog, head rope, spare horse shoes, horse rubber, heel rope, picketing rope/peg, surcingle strap & pad, brush, feedbag and corn bag.

On the front of the saddle would be 2 brown leather wallets for personnel effects, over which the trooper would attach a spare pair of boots and tent canvas. At the rear of the saddle the rider strapped his great coat. This was a shorter version known as a 'British Warm'.

An extra
bandoleer containing 30 rounds was worn around the horses neck.

The
rifle bucket featured is a bit of a mystery. It does not follow the traditional British and Commonwealth design, yet has a WD marking on the inside. Also the S.M.L.E. fits very comfortably inside.

Melville Patterson  said in a recent email "The rifle bucket is the same pattern  as one I had. It was sold to me as late Boer war pattern".
