Depeche Mode; history

this band has mainly consists of the same members over the years, Martin Gore (main song writer), Dave Gahun (main singer) and Andy Flecter. Some of the classic songs they have put out throughout the years include, "just can't get enough", "master and servent", "strangelove", "I feel you" and "enjoy the silence".

depeche mode is a band that never really listened to the rules of how a pop band should be. the rebelled against the usual line-up of instrument and mainly used keyboards and sampling.

they really never used a real live drummer, (I have heard they have started to) but used a drum machine. this was because of the simple reason that they could not find a drummer and just used a drum machine instead. the band never tried to hide the fact that there was no drummer, they had the drum machine on stage with them.

the early releases, ('85 and down) were mainly sampling and keyboards, but slowly as time went on guitars appeared in many of their songs. by the released of "Songs of Faith and Devotion" the band was almost had a completely different sound from when they started. this was because after "Vilator", the album before "Song of...", the band went they separate ways, and Dave seemed to get into the grunge scene.

with the band in different areas of the world the band was not close nit as in the past, the break that which happened between "Song of..." and "Ultra" was not that surprising. I believe at this time Dave was working on kicking his heroin acdiction.

in 1996 , with the released of the single “Barrel of a Gun”, the band come back with a force. “Ultra” was album u believed that many waited for. this album was a combination of the two styles that they have used in the past.

1998 saw the released of their second collection of single, this also include a new tack. the tack was named, “only when I lose myself”. this single collection collected singles from ‘86 to ‘98.
