Billingham Falcons 2 - 13 Sheffield Stormers

Saturday 6th November 1999

Following our excellent performance in defeating the Sheffield Stormers 4-2 away we faced the same team at home last weekend. This turned out to be a totally different proposition with the Falcons going down to their heaviest defeat for many seasons by 13-2.

The first period started in encouraging fashion when after only 0:54 James Udell scored unassisted with a wraparound goal from behind the net. Sheffield then scored two quick break away goals to take the lead after 4:57. The Falcons levelled the match after 12:21 with a goal from Steve Pritchard and an assist from Stuart Gibbon. The Stormers took the lead again on 12:42 and the period ended with the Falcons pressing on Sheffield's net in search of an equaliser.

The second period started in disastrous fashion for the Falcons with the Sheffield side scoring two quick goals to extend their lead. Shortly afterwards the Falcons capitulated completely with Sheffield scoring 10 unanswered goals in the second period to earn a well deserved 2 points.

Things can get no worse surely?
