Loud
Rage
LOUD RAGE is a new
band from Romania that caught my interest right away as soon as I checked
their new EP "Rage Unleashed - Tale Of A Murderer" which has all the top
notch elements, everything needed from a quality groovy death metal release.
Based on this I decided I'd like to ask some questions the band's founder
and this is how we ended up having this very interesting and entertaining
interview. Enjoy it!
1. Can you please introduce the band to
our readers and point out the most important experiences you’ve had so
far?
Cheers Christine, thanks for having us in
your zine, it’s an honor to have the chance to talk about Loudrage to the
Greek metalheads. Loudrage was started back in 2005, but the real start
was only a year after when we began rehearsing more seriously and playing
live. During these years our achievements would be in 2006 the Romanian
tour with Rictus Grin (old school thrash death from USA) and the winning
of best extreme metal newcomer in the most important magazine in Romania.
In 2007 we released a DVD covering our tour with Rictus Grin, then we had
the chance to open for Vital Remains and Sepultura, and this year we released
our debut EP, “Rage Unleashed – Tale of a Murderer”, signed a management/booking
deal with Hatework Agency, played with Torture Squad, Cilice, Negura Bunget,
Neochrome, and released our first professional videoclip for the “Another
One of Us” track. And the story goes on.
2. How many releases have you got? Please tell
us a few things about each one of them and pinpoint their main differences
and similarities.
As mentioned in the previous answer, we have
a DVD called “Groovy Dracula Tour” and an EP. The DVD is actually a split
with Rictus Grin (www.rictusgrin.com)
and contains live footage from the 7 days Romanian tour we had together.
Lots of fun, drinks, fun, metal and more fun. It’s a DIY release, but we’re
proud of it. Next is the EP “Rage Unleashed – Tale of a Murderer” which
is a 6 tracks release out on Pest Records this January. There are no similarities
between the two as they are totally different so I’ll suggest you pick
‘em both. ?
3. How would you describe your music to someone
that has never listened to you so far?
Groovy Death Metal, or an old-school death
metal mixed up with some hardcore and grindcore influences, all based on
a massive sound on riffs and rhythm section, not on technical points.
4. Why do you use intros in each and every
song? Do you find movie parts that are related to your lyrics or does the
atmosphere interest you only?
That was my idea from the start, but I think
on the EP I kinda overused it a bit. ? The intros are either movie-cuts
or mixes of several of them with music and even commercials. The point
of the intros was to suggest the idea of each track, so each intro has
a story that is presented musically in the tracks.
5. Which are the best elements of your music
and which are those parts you think need further improvement?
The best parts, or the parts we like the best
are the groovy rhythms. I mean all the tracks are meant for headbangin’
and that was our purpose. We still need to improve on a more aggressive
approach, but the rest we’ll see what the future will bring.
6. Have you got any new songs ready? When should
we expect your debut full length album?
Yes, we have 5 or 6 tracks almost done at
the moment and we’re preparing them to be featured on our debut album,
which is scheduled to be released in spring 2009 on Hatework. This autumn
we’ll record them and then there’s a bit of time to mix and master it.
Also we hope to release a new videoclip later this year or at the beginning
of 2009.
7. Can you mention some of your favourite bands
and albums? Who are those musicians who made you realize this is your favourite
metal genre?
There are countless bands we like, from Six
Feet Under to Amon Amarth, from Iron Maiden to Lamb Of God and from Stabwound
to Sepultura. Many, many bands and sub-genres of metal. I have a webzine
myself so I pretty much like a lot of underground bands also. There’s such
a big metal scene nowadays and soooo many options that I think it’s almost
impossible to stand behind only one band or genre.
8. What kind of feedback have you received
this far from the fans and press? Which was the best and which the most
unfair comment you’ve received?
The feedback so far was extremely good, we
never expected to get such good reviews from abroad, that’s why we’re so
glad. From Greece we had 2 reviews so far (including yours), both very
good. That keep us motivated to go further and promote the EP more abroad
than in our country. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, to a comment and
as long as that comment is not intended to only spit on our work, that’s
good, one can say anything.
9. How are you thinking to promote your work?
Have you got any plans for live shows?
We’re promoting the EP now in the worldwide
metal scene through webzines and magazines and soon we’ll start to play
abroad too. We had only Romanian gigs so far, but time has come to see
how other metalheads will receive our brutal live shows. There was a plan
to play this summer at a Greek festival too, but for some reasons that
is postponed for next year. So hope to see you very soon and hope you’ll
enjoy our madness on stage.
10. Tell us a few things about the lyrics.
Which are your sources of inspiration?
The lyrics on “Rage Unleashed – Tale of a
Murderer” are forming a conceptual story of the life of a serial killer,
from his birth to his death, so each of them is linked. The album will
have the whole story behind. Inspiration comes from everyday life, you
never in a lifetime reach to fully know a person. Your friendly neighbour
can be a ruthless killer, but also the bully from high school can be actually
a pussy when it comes to his personal life. It’s funny how things in life
are.
11. Please describe the artwork and explain
how it is related to the album title and lyrics.
The artwork again is linked to the whole story
of the album, it presents the murderer in a nostalgic pose. He never wanted
to become that hateful person… The artwork is made by a great artist from
here, Costin Chioreanu, who made covers for Grave, Demonical, Satanochio,
Undivine, Absu, Crucifix or Summoning.
12. How were your nicknames inspired? I’ve
seen that the 3 of you have been influenced by Latin American soap operas
or is it my belief? :)
I came up with those nicknames before our
first gig. We love to have fun and think there can be metal for fun too,
not only depressive metal. Yes, those are soap opera influenced, we thought
they were funny and kept them. Only I changed my nickname from Brutal Inocentio
Andras (this is the first time I’m saying this in an interview) to the
actual Molester because more and more of my friends started to call me
Molester. And that’s how it remained.
13. What’s going on in the underground scene
of Romania? Are there any interesting bands that deserve our attention?
Romania has a very, very interesting underground
scene and things are beginning to move towards a more important worldwide
recognition. Bands like Negura Bunget, Satanochio or Magica are already
known names in Europe and not only, and more bands are starting to rely
more on promotion outside of the country. I think in a couple of years
you’ll know more bands from here, because the talent and good ideas exist,
there’s only this lack of promotion thing at the moment. To check out some
extreme metal bands I would suggest you to check my Myspace profile Romanian
Death Metal Community – www.myspace.com/rodeathmetal
14. Is it easy for a band from your country
to stand out and make their name known worldwide? Have you faced any prejudice
because of your country of origin?
No, it is not easy at all because you have
to do it all by yourself. No one comes looking for you, you have to push
your band where you can. But again, because there are not so many Romanian
bands with a name known abroad the reviewers and even metalheads take your
band as an exotic one, like at the circus, come see the bear. ? That can
be an advantage sometimes.
No, we had no prejudices towards us so far
and hope we’ll never have. We know Romania has a not so shiny name in occidental
countries because of those shithole immigrants that left for countries
with good economical power only to commit crimes, but not all Romanians
are like that. And metalheads are intelligent people that pretty much don’t
care about all that shit. Also we’re from Transylvania, and everyone who
ever visited this region felt in love with it and its inhabitants. You
should do the same, come and visit “Dracula’s land”. ?
15. What title or phrase do you think represents
the band in the best possible way?
Groovy Death Metal – this label of our music
really represents us from all points of view.
16. Thank you! Leave a message to our readers…
Thank you very much Christina for this entertaining
interview, I had a good time answering it and hope your readers will not
be bored as hell reading it. Really hope to come as soon as possible to
play in Greece and have a tank of beers with the Greek metalheads.
