The Doony Legend
'Ancient reliefs speak of a 'Golden Era' that once blessed mankind. A time of bounteous harvests, of great advances in the arts and science, and also a time when the Power was discovered.
The
archaic scripts are difficult to interpret, and are very vague regarding
the origins of the Power. We do know that the power was the ability to create
a new species of creature with abilities and personality traits which reflected
its respective creator.
The Ancients called these creatures 'Doonys'.
Recently discovered texts indicate that originally only a hundred people
were chosen to receive the power in order to ensure that the Doonys created
were useful creatures to their human creators, and while the 'Golden Age'
lasted, Doonys and Humans lived in harmony. However, the Golden Age ended
when Doonys exhibiting evil traits began to appear. It is thought that the
secret of the Power was stolen and misused by an evil cult known as the
'Vorations', who believed that mankind needed to be punished for their sins
and felt that the Power was provided by Gaia for this end. The onslaught
of the Voration Doonys brought a global cataclysm to the human race. Inscriptions
depict only a few tribes who managed to survive the wrath of these tyrants,
over three quarters of the global population having been wiped out.
The events which followed are somehow missing from history. Temple walls have huge sections of text removed or defaced. It seems as though the ancients did not wish anyone to know exactly what happened during those dark days, and the truth behind how mankind was spared from catastrophe has long been forgotten.
Scientific reconstuction methods using advanced supercomputers have revealed very little. Garbled sentences and unusual phrases do not shed any light on this mystery. One word in particular is recurring during this period in time, however, a word that, despite the efforts to erase it from history, has been discovered in well over 4000 places around the globe. That word is 'Majest'.
Today, the legend of the Voration Doonys is regarded for the most part as a fairy story. Staunch believers in the idea of both the Vorations and the redemption of mankind during the 'Golden Age' are ridiculed by scientists as traditionalists who have no place in modern society.
Views are changing, however, and the media is once again giving much attention to the legend. Recent discoveries by explorers and archaeologists have unearthed some surprising evidence in support of the myth. Animals which had been considered extinct - or in some cases mythical themselves - have been found to be thriving in remote areas, and sometimes right under our noses.
A group of religious extremists known as the 'Order of Gaia' view these discoveries as evidence of another looming disaster, and members of the 'Temple of Majest', who are normally extremely reclusive, have begun to travel further afield, evidently searching for something.
Questions therefore remain - was this ancient legend recorded as a warning to mankind? Why was a portion of history erased throughout the earth? Who or what is majest? The answers may never be revealed, but many beleive otherwise.
