Ashley's Antics!
Lock up your daughters, he's off to sea and this website is just a place to keep everyone updated of the latest....

The Ocean Majesty
So this is where he's hanging out in Cabin D84 on the Diamond Deck - yes, not just any old staff cabin, but a nice guest cabin, on the fifth floor - he does seem to lead a charmed life!

I will update the photos, but we left the cd in Wales, so in the meantime I've added a couple of webcam pictures from this week's cruise in Norway and will update the other photo's as soon as possible

So he's back on board again after what seemed like a flying visit home. Dad and I met him at the ship and were whisked down to the restaurant for a slap up breakfast, where we were treated like VIPs. It was lovely to meet so many of his colleagues and he is clearly very well thought of and extremely well looked after - no surprise there.
I know he didn't catch up with everyone he wanted to while he was home, but I think he's gone back to work for a rest. He did have a great time in Wales though and was thrilled to meet some of his Welsh cousins and catch up with all the old faces. We arrived back from Wales at about 11pm on Saturday night to grab a few hours sleep as he was due to meet his lift at Stansted at 5.30am on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, his watch was still on Norwegian time and he arrived at Stansted at 4am after only having an hour and a half sleep - typical Ashley!

Now he's really got the hang of this reversed charge calling! Click on the link for the latest update
Friday 10 June
I have just spoken to the birthday boy, who's having a wonderful time. Last night was the deck party, which is a regular event for all the guests and Ash attends in his working capacity, so presumably on best behaviour. At the end of the evening he was up on the stage with everyone in the Show Lounge singing Happy Birthday to him, he then adjourned to the Majestic Lounge where they were serving late night snacks, with more Happy Birthday's played at midnight, by Clive the pianist. Eventually at 3am he ended up in the galley eating bread and croissants fresh from the oven. So we can all imagine how his performance has been today!
Tonight is his party which is taking place in the staff bar to which, he tells me, everyone's coming and he's really looking forward to it. What with the Bachelors playing (how weird), John the comedian playing the sax and singing and the chef cooking curry and baking him a birthday cake. It sounds like he'll have a great time and a birthday to remember (well hopefully), but I dread to think what kind of state he'll be in tomorrow, I hope they don't hit stormy weather!
Anyway, he was just off with Kevin and Jonathan to play Quasar - don't ask me why he's in such a beautiful place as Bergen and chooses to do this - still it is raining and I guess you have to cross the bridge from your teens to your twenties somehow...
Hopefully news of the party, or what he can remember of it, will follow soon.

Oh dear, he's worked out how to make a reserved charge call - at least it was only from Newcastle.
So, not too much news since last Friday, still having fun with the Bachelors, who he says are really nice and very professional. He's still really busy catching up with the work from the second cruise, where things got a little behind, but managed to have some time out in Stockholm with Mark, the DJ, Danielle, Entertainments Assistant and Gary from the band. They went into the main town and had a Chinese "eat all you can" buffet - traditional Swedish fayre!
It seems his room has become a bit of a social reception area in typical Ashley tradition, back to his for drinks each night - perhaps the ironing board worked? He wanted to make his room a little more homely and was after some net lights and a rug, to add to the pictures and flowers etc. So, today they've had another staff changeover which includes Angela's arrival from the Page and Moy office, who brought with her some fairy lights for his room - how does he do it?
He's even managed to have a dabble with the decks (music decks). Mark let him have a go in the disco one night and was so impressed that Ash is now his stand in!
He's also found himself a hairdresser in the form of Simona (she's the one from the first phone call), but as far as I know she's only cutting his hair, not that he'd impart any more information to me.
All the staff are really nice, although the Captain can be a bit grumpy unless he's around a woman, so Ashley's making sure he minds his p's and q's, and steers clear of any of the women the Captain may have his eye on!
Tonight they set sail for Norway - missing you all....

Monday 16 May
At last - a phone call!! "Hi, I'm in Dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty..." No changes there then. Of course he couldn't talk, just wanted to know which bank card would work so he could buy some trousers (must be Groundhog day!) Anyway, he did manage to say he was still having a great time and had been really busy, but promised to send me an email tonight - so, watch this space, but don't hold your breath...
Tuesday 3 May
Today's Tuesday, so it must be Copenhagen! Received an email saying "everything is fantastic, having a great time" - all I wanted to know. They were just leaving Copenhagen and off to sea again and the programme is getting easier.
I have heard on the grapevine from the AA source (that's Airport Agencies, not the rehab centre!) that he has his eye on a hairdresser (well that should save him some money). Now why don't I get the interesting emails?
So now they're heading to St Petersburg where they will be on Thursday and Friday.
