INTRODUCTION    (LAST UPDATED  July 10th 2005)

Welcome to Annexcafe.Phoenix.Sigtags.Animated

Welcome to  APSA (Annexcafe.Phoenix.Sigtags.Animated).  APSA is a very diverse animation newsgroup dedicated to having fun and sharing the love of animation.  APSA was formed by a group of friends that wanted to share fun, friendship and animation,  within an atmosphere that would be free from controversy or unnecessary conflict.  Our Guidelines reflect those feelings and will ensure a pleasurable experience for all APSA members.

You will find all sorts of animations, original art, alphabets, backgrounds, birthday greetings, signatures, tutorials, how to's, helpful hints, chat of both a jocular and serious nature and last but not least people who will sincerely welcome your presence and support your efforts.   It's a family oriented, friendly and fun place where the generosity is unsurpassed.  The Animators' works are very imaginative with Names/Sigtags being only one aspect.  Anything posted is free for PERSONAL USE ONLY.   Join us at APSA......but be warned......before you know it, you have become addicted and/or an animator and trust me, you will never ever want to leave.  You have just found your home away from home!  :-)

Welcome to APSA from all the APSA Members.

Section #1 - Inappropriate Behaviour

1.  Please refrain from starting political, religious or racial discussions.

2.  Nudity, sexual innuendo, flirting, swearing, references to drugs, and posts of that nature are not welcome. No "rated" or "adult" posts.  We're a family-oriented group!

3.  No rude or inappropriate nicknames.

4.  The posting of warez, keygens, serials, and links dealing with hacking or pirating software is expressly forbidden.  Do not request them and do not offer them...it is illegal.

5.  No Spamming, Advertising and/or Announcements for Pay Sites.

6.  No flaming!  If you have a problem...contact the moderator.

Note: We reserve the right to have inappropriate posts, guideline infringements or copyright violations cancelled at our discretion without notice.  It is your responsibility to read and follow our guidelines.

Section #2 - Changing your Settings

Since we are such a busy group, courtesy shown towards our fellow-posters is a huge consideration.  We ask that before you post in APSA, you read through this section carefully and make the necessary changes to your settings.

1.  As a courtesy to our members, we require that you leave a "tail" in your replies, so that we do not have to scroll back to see who or what you are replying to.  To make the necessary changes (using Outlook Express), Go to Tools>Options>Send and click on "Include Message in Reply".  Please "snip" to keep the kb-size of your reply down.

2.  UNclick "Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent".  This will prevent the animation/sound in the original post from being sent along with your reply, saving our members from having to download it more than once.

3. If you are using a newsreader other than Outlook Express please make the necessary changes to your settings so that you do not repost graphics or sound when replying to html posts.

...................................................................................

Section #3 - How to Make Requests

1.  Reply to the original thread, or make your request in a separate post with the sigtag makers name in the subject
line, so they are sure to see it.

2.  Unless an animator posts otherwise, make all requests in the newsgroup, NOT by personal email.

3.  While most of our sigtag makers enjoy filling requests, keep in mind that making animations takes time.  Please
do not overwhelm them with too many requests.  Once you have made your request, please wait patiently.  If you abuse this, you may find your request is ignored.  It is left to the sigtag maker's discretion as to whether they wish to
honor any given request.

...................................................................................

Section #4 - Netiquette

1.  Please do not add a copyright © to any graphic you have not created yourself.  Changing a graphic and adding a copyright © to it does NOT make it yours.

2.  Altering someone else's work or animation is considered "bad netiquette" (it can also be a breach of copyright).  This includes adding a personalization to an existing animation.

3. Please do not post graphics or similar that you have on a paysite, or intend to put on a paysite.

4.  Please do not bring a graphic or animation into our group and ask that we alter it.   We are very copyright-conscious and will animate only those graphics we know are "safe".

5.  Our sigtags and animations are NOT to be posted in other newsgroups or communities without prior permission from the animators.

...................................................................................

Section #5 - Posting in APSA

1. When posting animations not of your own making, please indicate this by placing "JP" (Just Posting) in the
subject line, and give the appropriate credit in your post.  Please also note that some TOU (terms of use) do not
allow posting in public forums.

2. Keep your posts small.  If you are posting multiple animations, please break them up into separate posts.  Posts should never exceed 400kb.

3. Sigtags should be small in kb size, so they are useable in emails.  Try to keep your sigtags 35-40kb at the most.
Backgrounds should be no larger than 40kb.

4. When posting sigtags, put the person's name in the subject line.  When making multiple posts, please use the
following format:

Frog Waving (subject line)
    Frog: Lucy (under original thread)
    Frog: Mary (under original thread)
    Frog: Jane (under original thread)

Holding to this format will prevent people from having to open multiple posts & also helps everyone find tags personalized for them.

5.  As a courtesy to our fellow animators, please give credit where credit is due, if you use something not of your own making in your posts.

6.  Since APSA generates many messages, as a courtesy, please do not include graphics as part of your signature.

7. If you would like to share a personal photograph with the group please do, there is no need to animate it.

...................................................................................

Section #6 - APSA Posting Policy / Copyrights / Terms of Use

Gregory Gooden, the owner of the Annexcafe, has been very generous in providing us with a safe haven to post our
animations.  He only asks that we follow the server rules. We do not want to put him or his server at risk by violating
copyright laws.

1.  Honored Artists:  If using our Honored Artists boards, please follow all the requirements of the artist.

2.  Scanning Images:  Scanning an image does not make the graphic yours.  Copyright rules must always be considered.

3.  Redistribution:  Please do not use APSA to set up requests for sharing artwork, clipart, fonts, plugins, programs, etc.  Redistribution is usually forbidden by TOU (terms of use).

4.  Sounds:  Midi's are welcome in APSA.  No MP3s, Musical Wavs, or Soundtracks, please.  Midi trimming tools can be found here:
http://www.openmindproductions.nl/en/
http://www.anvilstudio.com/

5. Linking Websites:  If you wish to share a website with us, please feel free to post the link, but never, under any circumstances, should you reproduce or post the actual webpage.
