Recovery

From what I have learned and seen, I am convinced that recovery is possible - without drugs.

In the video by Bronwyn Fox, she discusses a number of techniques which help to control thinking to help overcome anxiety creating thoughts.

She discusses it in quite some depth (for free !) on her web site (http://www.panicattacks.com.au/ ), but there is far more in depth coverage and explanation of the techniques involved in the video which she had produced, which can be bought from her web site.

Don't be put off by the word 'meditation' which is one of the techniques used by Bronwyn. I immediately thought of bearded hippies sitting around in strange positions chanting some wierd and wonderful things. Its not like that at all - its a very practical down to earth technique. I have found that it is very easy to do, and it is nice to have just 20 minutes of peace and quiet in my mind...it really seems to work. (I would never admit to any friends that I do it - it all sounds to new age and mystic for a guy like me, but I have to admit that it seems to work)

In conjunction with the video which Bronwyn has produced, I think that taking an active interest in your own well being by exercising, getting sleep and trying to eat well certainly helps a lot. Just the act of doing something positive makes you feel better about yourself. It takes time, but you get to like that feeling of feeling better about yourself, and its nice to keep building on it little by little. You'll get set-backs along the way, but just keep on going.
