The story began when Anna, a surface dweller on Earth, managed to make her way deep down into the planet and uncovered a completely new civilisation down there, called the D'Ni (pronounced "Dunny"). Here she met a young worker named Aitrus who was in a recently deceased project to contact anyone who lived on the surface. Amazed at Anna's ability to learn the D'Ni language, and the speed of her intelligence and reasoning, Aitrus decided to teach Anna the D'Ni art of Writing. Writing Books in D'Ni was a long and slow process; this was because they didn't write stories, but wrote worlds. The special books they wrote in meant that when they had finished they could "link" to the world they had written by touching a sort of panel, or window, in the book. Though, of course, they had to take a linking book back to D'Ni with them to make sure they could get back again. It was some years after Aitrus and Anna (whose name was changed to Ti'ana) were married, that one of Aitrus' friends got framed for a crime he did not commit and in his anxiety murdered a few guards and even destroyed a linking book. Veovis would have been sentenced to death, if it was not for Ti'ana, who pleaded for him just to be placed in a Prison Age. When Veovis escaped, he and a companion, A'Gaeris, set about the destruction of D'Ni and all the other ages killing millions of people. After A'Gaeris betrayed Veovis and killed him Aitrus sacrificed himself to destroy A'Gaeris. And Anna made her way back to the surface with their son, Ghen..... (continued next page)
