Forest of Bowland - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the centre of the United Kingdom

Dunsop Bridge is situated at the heart of the 300 sq.mile Forest of Bowland, "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", and has been identified by the Ordnance Survey as being the village closest to the centre of the United Kingdom.

The Forest of Bowland's upland fells, with summits above 450m, are dissected by steep sided valleys which open out into rich green lowlands adjacent to the rivers Hodder and Wyre. This is idyllic countryside for walking, whether alongside the rivers, or to higher ground for a panoramic view.  Wherever you travel in the Bowland area you'll be sure to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this unspoilt area of rural Lancashire.

Wood End Farm forms part of the Queen's Duchy of Lancaster Estate and in 1989 we were proud to welcome Her Majesty  to the farm.  We are sure that when you visit the Bowland area, you'll understand why the Queen regards it as one of her favourite places in the country.
