The overall star rating is in the time-honoured maner - one to five stars. We do not attempt a mathematical equivalence with the other scores. To some extent it is a balance of all properties, but weighted towards the quality of the main dishes.
Other marks are awarded out of ten, in line with the following schema. The mark for value is supposed to be an objective cost comparison rather than an attempt to evaluate "value for money".
1 inedible
2 very poor
3 poor
4 below average
5 average
6 above average
7 good
8 very good
9 excellent
10 sublime
SYIR = South Yorkshire Indian Restaurant; hence SYIRometer - a summary evaluation of all that is worst about the restaurants in our region. (See also Explanation.) The more points, the more tricky, phoney and inauthentic it tends to be. This list may grow.
