This small plush restaurant, located in one of the poorest districts of Doncaster, serves some of the most expensive Indian food I have come across. Is there any wonder, then, that we were the only customers in there? Expensive it may be, fresh it was not - as I suspect the majority of the meal came out of the freezer, backed up by ready-mixed sauces. As ready-meals go (ignoring the after-effects for a moment) it didn't taste bad - in fact my dining companions raved about some of it. I remain to be convinced.
Being a bit desperate, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. But how quickly does friendliness turn to arrogance or even thinly-disguised hostility in establishments like this if they start to enjoy some success. Scores 8 on the SYIRometer.
